Clinton is fully aware of the crisis that infects our nation -- and it doesn't come from our southern border. It comes from the White House. "Fundamental rights, civic virtue, freedom of the press, the rule of law, truth, facts and reason are under assault," she declared today, also lamenting "the racist and white supremacist views" that are "lifted up" in the White House. And yet most Republicans continue to support Trump. They're mindless little rats who can't resist the lure of the orange-skinned Pied Piper. Our democracy is at stake.

Well, well, well. Fox News chairman Rupert Murdoch wanted Trump to win in 2016 so, prior to the election, Fox News, a.k.a. the Trump Cheerleading Channel, buried the news of Trump's affair with a porn star and the subsequent nondisclosure agreement. "Fair and balanced"? Hah!

The orange-skinned Emperor believes he has the authority to declare a "national emergency" where none exists so he can start building the unnecessary, expensive, ineffective Trump Wall monument to himself -- but, as CNN's Yuliya Panfil explains, he does not have the authority to seize land by eminent domain. Congress, not the President, has that authority. In 1952, the Supreme Court ruled in Youngstown v. Sawyer that the President can not seize private property without legislative authorization.

Donald Trump claims the United States is receiving billions of dollars in tariff payments from China Not surprisingly, Donald Trump is wrong. Americans, not the Chinese, are paying for Trump's trade war.
Trump's trade war cost Americans $1.4 billion a month last year, according to a new report
Business Insider, Mar 4 2019 2:18 PM
A spate of protectionist policies with trading partners reduced real US income by $1.4 billion per month at the end of 2018, according to a new study by economists at the New York Federal Reserve, Princeton and Columbia. Using official data on prices and quantities of imports, they found American consumers and businesses footed the bill following the $283 billion worth tariffs the Trump administration levied on major economies last year while overseas companies paid little to nothing.
While President Donald Trump has claimed foreign companies pay tariffs, economists say that isn't true. If the tariffs that were in place at the end of 2018 were to continue, approximately $165 billion dollars of trade per year will continue to be redirected.

This morning, the Tweeter-In-Chief complained that all the many subpoenas and investigations into his business dealings are "PRESIDENTIAL HARASSMENT!" Yes, he used all-caps. Here is another investigation he can start complaining about:

As I have said many times, 99% of Republicans care much more about their party than they care about the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the rule of law and our nation's system of checks and balances. Here is today's Exhibit A:
GOP rejects calls to probe Trump's role in hush-money payments
Trump may have committed crimes over a scheme to pay off women alleging affairs. Republicans say they have no reason to look into it.

And here is Exhibit B. One third of Republicans believe Trump committed crimes before becoming President -- but they choose to put their party first by simply closing their eyes to Trump's crimes.
Almost two-thirds think Trump committed crimes before taking office

Remember when Trump said he didn't know Stormy Daniels? He was lying. Remember when Trump said he did not have an affair with her? He was lying. Remember when Trump said he knew nothing about hush-money payments? He was lying. Remember when Trump said Michael Cohen had done "a tiny little fraction" of legal work for him but was not his attorney? He was lying. Now we learn that Trump sent 11 huge checks to Cohen. Each one was written while Trump was President. Very predictably, Republicans continue to make excuses for the liar: "Oh, maybe he sent checks to Cohen but maybe he didn't know what the money was for." No, Trump knew exactly what it was for. Republicans need to take a closer look at their orange-skinned Emperor. He does not deserve their support -- as Cohen himself pointed out.

For those who believe the economy has benefitted from Trump's Presidency, I submit the following: Student debt is at an all-time high. National debt is at an all-time high. The federal deficit is at an all-time high. Retail store closures hit an all-time high in 2017 and are on pace to reach a new high in 2019. And now.....

Since December 31, 1989, Kevin Ryder and Gene "Bean" Baxter have hosted the morning show at Los Angeles alternative rock station KROQ. This morning, Bean announced he will leave the program before the end of the year and return to his native England. As The Hollywood Reporter notes, Donald Trump has a lot to do with Bean's decision:
"He also cited President Donald Trump, calling him the 'monster' in the White House, as part of the reason he wants to leave. 'Thirty percent of the reason I want to go now is I feel like civil war is coming,' he said. 'I'm not exaggerating when I say that. We are literally watching democracy die in front of our eyes. You can turn on the news and see examples of that happening. It breaks my heart to see what is happening to our country right now.'"
