German-born Karl Wallenda formed the Great Wallendas in 1922. They performed throughout Europe before moving to the United States and joining the Ringling Brothers/Barnum & Bailey Circus in 1928. Seven generations of Wallendas have performed in various troupes – not all at once, of course.
