You know what would be funny? Funny, in a sad kind of way? If, in the 2022 midterms and the 2024 Presidential election, millions of Retrumplicans who believe Donald Trump's Big Lie about a "rigged" and "stolen" election and "widespread voter fraud" don't even bother to vote.
GOP push for hand-counting paper ballots is latest effort to cast doubt on elections
CNN, Jan 10 2022 12:07 PM ET
After more than a year of baselessly questioning the results of the 2020 election, some Republicans are casting doubt on how ballots are counted, part of a broader movement inspired by former President Donald Trump's lies about election fraud that is undermining confidence in America's vote. In at least three states – Utah, New Hampshire and Texas -- Republicans have pushed for banning traditional ballot scanning machines in favor of hand-counting paper ballots, an antiquated process that experts fear could inject error into an election system where very little has been found. Critics also worry that the inevitable delay in results from hand counting would be an opportunity for those looking to sow doubt about the outcome of future contests.
Republicans have already seized on Trump's unfounded claims to launch partisan audits and enact restrictive voting laws ahead of this year's midterms. And now they're targeting the tabulation of votes by suggesting, without evidence, that there's a problem -- even in places where Trump or down-ballot Republicans won in 2020.

Rewind....should people be required to show identification to vote? I will wait. :)
People already have to show ID to vote. I think the Republicans want voters to show a photo ID and not everyone has a photo ID.
Actually based on my experienced that is not true or only may be somewhat true. Here in the ultra liberal state of MA....I have many times voted and not had to show identification. Literally walk in and I am asked by the person in charge what is my address? I tell him/her they then scan down their paperwork, they then ask me my name, I tell them my name and then they check it off with a pen and hand me my ballot. Not a very secure way to do it if you ask me.
This day in age everyone should be required to present a photo id. As to your point that not everyone has a photo id...i would argue that number is de minimis. We require photo id to for just about everything in this country. Want to rent an apartment? Need photo id. Want to buy liquor, Show photo id. Want to get on a plane and travel to Florida? show a photo id. Want a loan from a bank? show photo id. Open a bank account? show photo id. Want to buy cigarettes show photo id. Want to apply for welfare? Need photo id. Want food stamps? Need photo id. I could go on and on and on...but hopefully you get the point. Why should the integrity of voting be any different????

"I constantly say it, you can hate Trump. You can’t hate all the people who like him — it’s half the country. And you can’t set yourself up as some sort of superior moral paragon, because this is your political belief, and somebody else has another one." ~ Bill Maher
P.s. Bill Maher...not exactly a conservative. ;)
This one sentence tells you everything you need to know: "Republicans are unified in opposition." Retrumplicans do not believe in "voting rights" for anyone who is not a Retrumplican. They're doing everything they can to make voting much more difficult for minorities, native Americans, the elderly and the handicapped.

Today, January 17, 2022 – a day in which we honor the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. and the day in which Martin Luther King III implored the Senate to pass voting-rights legislation – Kevin McCarthy has a dream. He dreams of a United States where blacks, Asians, Latinos, Muslims, native Americans, the elderly and the handicapped are prevented from casting a ballot and Retrumplicans are able to rig every election and throw out any results they disagree with.

Yes, voters should be required to show a voter ID. That is not the issue here. Retrumplicans – who believe Donald Trump's Big Lie of a rigged and stolen election – have been busy eliminating polling places and ballot dropboxes in minority neighborhoods and passing legislation to make it much harder for people to vote by mail. Retrumplicans in Montana eliminated same-day voter registration. Retrumplicans in Georgia made it illegal for anyone to give food or water to a voter waiting in line. Retrumplicans are doing everything they can to make voting much more difficult for minorities, the elderly and the handicapped. They are also seeking to place pro-Trump loyalists in charge of elections in at least eight states and give them the power to overturn any election results they don't like. Retrumplicans want to ensure that they can rig and steal the 2024 election, the will of the people be damned.

Good to know your for voter identification!!!! You do realize that under the new election reform that Biden and the progressives want to eliminate all voter id requirements right???? They also want to make it ok to ballot harvest...meaning one person can go into say an 100 unit apartment complex and collect as many of those ballots as possible and then take them to be counted. That creates a huge opportunity for voter fraud. Georgia voter law still allows people to vote by mail so not sure how they are making it harder? Drop boxes in any neighborhood is not a good idea....drop boxes can easily be tampered with/stolen/vandalized. Same day registration is a joke...just a way for more voter fraud to be committed. If you can walk to a drop box, most likely you can walk to the nearest place to vote in your hood. As far as the feds wanting to provide food and drink....cmon man....this aint a goddamn all day block party, its voting. Republicans are not making it more difficult to vote, they are making it more difficult to cheat.
Republicans never expressed any concern about cheating and election fraud until Trump started saying the 2020 election was rigged. I think they are passing all these new restrictions just to appease Trump and stay on his good side.
Listener to be fair...I think both sides have always known that a certain percentage of fraud has always happened. This last election was much different. It was the millions of mass mailings of ballots by democratic controlled states that became the elephant in the room. In addition many dem controlled places counted ballots that came back with no post mark dates and well after the deadline. This was the wake up call. Absentee ballots are one thing, non requested mass mailings are quite another. Biden barely came out of his house to campaign. He was lucky to get 12 honking vehicles to show up to the few "rallys" he had. Yet the guy garnered 80 million votes? Ok i guess...but you cant blame Republicans for wanting to tighten up restrictions to some degree. And if you actually read and understood Georgia laws they really are not all that strict. To be honest...Bidens state of Delaware has more difficult laws on the books.
Back in my day voting was easy.....you had one day to show up to the polls and cast your vote. If you could not make it...you applied for an absentee ballot, problem solved. These days in most states you can vote like 2 to 3 week before the actual voting date and some states accept returns up a week afterwards. New York City allows ILLEGALS to vote now. I mean cmon guys....don't ya think thats a bit much?????? Same day registration that the progressives want would allow what NYC does but on a national scale. Think about that for a second. Imagine all these ILLEGALS that Biden allowing to flow thru our border being able to show up and legally vote tomorrow. You guys ok with that? cuz that's where the Dems want to take it to stay in power. Dems dont give a shit about you Listener...they only care about staying in power. Problem for the progressive left and Biden is that Moderate Dems don't want that. Hence why his poll numbers are in the toilet and also why the republicans will take back control of the house and Senate this November.
San Francisco and New York City allow non-citizens to vote, but only in local elections. Non-citizens cannot vote in federal elections. That law was passed in 1996.
Or maybe they are doing it to appease HILLABEAST and the dems back in 2016 and the additional years that followed.
Looky, Looky, Lissy Lissy, Seems the Donald is not alone in his thought that elections can be stolen:
Hillary Clinton dismissed President Trump as an “illegitimate president” and suggested that “he knows” that he stole the 2016 presidential election in a CBS News interview to be aired Sunday.
Clinton was asked whether it angers her that none of the current Democratic candidates invoke her on the campaign trail while Trump’s rally crowds still break out into “lock her up” chants.
“No, it doesn’t kill me because he knows he’s an illegitimate president,” she said. “I believe he understands that the many varying tactics they used, from voter suppression and voter purging to hacking to the false stories — he knows that — there were just a bunch of different reasons why the election turned out like it did.”

Thank you for posting that story from September 26, 2019. Now please tell me how many times Hillary said the election was "rigged" and "stolen," how many times she made baseless claims of "widespread voter fraud," how many audits and recounts she ordered, how many lawsuits she filed in an attempt to overturn the election results, how many times she phoned a Secretary of State to ask that he "find" additional votes for her and how many times she told her supporters to "march to the Capitol" and "stop the steal" and "fight like hell" to prevent Trump from being certified as President. I will wait.
"Democrats are criticizing Republicans for pushing restrictive voting laws. But states such as Joe Biden’s Delaware can make casting a ballot difficult."
"Biden has assailed Georgia’s new voting law as an atrocity akin to “Jim Crow in the 21st century” for the impact it could have on Black citizens. But even once the GOP-passed measure takes effect, Georgia citizens will still have far more opportunities to vote before Election Day than their counterparts in the president’s home state, where one in three residents is Black or Latino. To Republicans, Biden’s criticism of the Georgia law smacks of hypocrisy. “They have a point,” says Dwayne Bensing, a voting-rights advocate with Delaware’s ACLU affiliate. “The state is playing catch-up in a lot of ways.”
