I'm talking about the 1:30 minute mark.
Edit: watch / listen to the final moments.
maybe it's best off to not question things...............
It is what it is.... unbelievable. Amazing.

The random walk strikes again.
Don't hold your breath on this one. It was fun for a month or two at the minimum.

OK, this just made that a tad bit better. Note, just a "tad".

Question everything, especially authority - but know what you're talking about to the best of your ability. It's the only way.
Otherwise...you're dead.
Best to end in this fashion.

Pretty retrospective, no?
Van Morrison did a blues-tinged album a year or two ago. Heard only one cut. Sounded great.
For my taste music overall today is not as good as it was in the past. There are many who agree. Take rap/hip-hop. Overly commercial sounds. No soul.
Never mind.
Ladies and Gents,
Now for something mellow. Groove on this for awhile.

And then crank it up a little. "People Got to be Free" by The Young Rascals, led by their lead singer, the great Felix Cavaliere. (1/2/16 link repaired)

One of the best Young Rascals songs. The organ arrangement, and the horns, adds a magnificent sound.

A beautiful song and a magnificent replacement for Errol Garner's version of the same tune. This arrangement is unsurpassed.
Barbra Streisand
The Shadow of Your Smile
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzmYX...yer_detailpage[url]
5/26/14 This song is so beautiful that it requires a version by another of the finest ballad singers that ever lived. She was popular around the same time as Streisand's early career, leaving us in 1990. Her voice and style are her own and stunning.
Sarah Vaughan

This song is so evocative to me, that I decided to look for other artists that presented it with the emotion and poignancy it deserved. After listening to some of the best singers who ever lived I was only able to choose one to add to Barbra and Sarah.

There has been much written about this huge talent; her troubles with addiction, discrimination, relationships and the scars that resulted. This is a fine example of her talent.

This song is a haunting symbol of her pain about society's vicious and grotesque behavior toward black people. Listen carefully to the lyrics.

Van Morrison mmmmmm.
So nice.
lol. "Got to be free" - did you see the last comment?
And for any of you that like classical I saw this live. At the middle of the piece, I heard musicians behind me. What the hell? They were in the balcony, playing to the stage musicians. It was an exhilarating experience.
A beautiful, evocative work. Roman legions returning through the Pines of Rome. The main theme is haunting and the ending is very stirring.
There are many, many, magnificently beautiful classical pieces. It is silly and a waste of time to compare and to say one is better than another. But this I will say; there is no work more beautiful than this one.
Try it. You might like it.

Lastly, this is Anton Dvorak's Symphony 'From The New World'. He came from Europe to see the country for himself and his impressions are expressed thruout the work. There are flavors of Indian music, western influences, children playing games and more that reflect what he saw. The song 'Going Home' used often in movies comes from this symphony.
While listening think about his adventures mentioned in the hints above.

Well done Julie!!
And yes, it is a wonderful song.
I did like it. It reminded me of something.
One of the most interesting things I've ever encountered professionally was a visit to Cirque de Soleil in Quebec. One can only imagine the need for custom fabrication required for their sets.

I repeat myself about music, perhaps. But a classical composition, especially if you know why it was written, can be very stirring, beautiful, sad, exciting, and evocative. The Pines Of Rome, The Symphony From The New World and countless others, as I mentioned above, can move you to experience deep emotion.
Nothing like it - if you are introspective and get into it.
And carthartic sometimes, too.
This is about a river in Europe. Its flow is slow, then fast and turbulent in places. The piece evokes the movement, the feeling, the essence of the subject. It's beautiful.

Julie - I had that one pegged. Not to bust your bubble, but I'm a transplant from PA in 1992. I still tell the kids about "Down on Main Steet" though. They're Michiganders all the way (much to their dad's dismay, but hey, the chicks leave the nest.....)
Here's a band from SE PA I'd like to share with you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wA1m1hc48X4
You're getting pretty good at this. Resist the temptation to join in on politics lol.
