She co-starred with Merry Anders and Barbara Eden in the first season of the 1957-59 syndicated television series How To Marry A Millionaire. Upset because her role wasn't bigger, she quit and was replaced in the second season by Lisa Gaye. It was explained that Nelson's character had gotten married and moved away.

In 1981, he formed a jazz big band, Superband, which released four albums.
