"President Trump and some of his allies keep saying impeachment is a coup. There may be a kind of coup going on but it is by him and his followers. Think about it. He won't produce any information demanded by Congress. He won't let anyone working for him talk to Congress. More importantly, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is in a position where he could have the President acquitted almost immediately. Attorney General William Barr won't allow investigations aside from the ones Trump wants. The judiciary is being stacked with judges who favor the President. Our government is being turned into a rubber stamp for Trump."

If Republicans were not brainwashed, blindly loyal members of the Cult of Donald Trump, they would be questioning why Trump, if he is as innocent as he claims, will not allow his aides to testify. House impeachment investigators wanted to hear testimony from Donald Trump, William Barr, John Bolton, Mick Mulvaney, Mike Pompeo, Robert Blair, Rick Perry, Michael Duffey and others in the Trump administration but they refused to comply with subpoenas and Democrats did not want to launch court proceedings against them that were sure to drag on until Election Day – or later. Schumer would like four of those men to testify during the Senate impeachment trial. The Stonewaller-In-Chief and his loyal lapdog Mitch will likely refuse to allow them to. What are Trump and McConnell so afraid of? The truth?

Many Congressional Democrats are up for re-election in districts won by Trump in 2016. They have two choices: Support impeachment and run the risk of losing in 2020 or oppose impeachment and avoid jeopardizing their political future. Unlike Republicans who value Trump and the Republican party above the Constitution and the rule of law, these Democrats are putting the Constitution and the rule of law above their party. What a concept!

Senate Republicans do not want any witnesses to tesify during the impeachment trial. They don't want Americans learning additional details about Trump's abuse of power and Giuliani's shadow foreign policies. Eventually, though, we will learn additional details. Case in point:

Congressional Republicans know Emperor Trump's withholding of Congressionally-approved military aid and dangling it as a bribe to pressure Ukraine into digging up dirt on Biden is wrong, violates the Presidential oath of office and jeopardizes national security and the integrity of the upcoming election.
