Tom Petty died October 2, 2017. Can't SiriusXM find a better name for his program than the now-morbid Buried Treasure?
Three 'new' episodes of Tom Petty's Buried Treasure show to premiere on SiriusXM
Los Angeles Times, Oct 18 2018 5:00 AMs
Long before Tom Petty became one of rock’s biggest stars, he was one of the music’s biggest fans, a characteristic that came to the fore in recent years on his weekly satellite radio show Tom Petty’s Buried Treasure on SiriusXM Channnel 31. Fans of the program will get a belated gift from the musician in the form of three "new" episodes, which Petty recorded before he died last year at age 66. In the episodes, Petty discusses the differences between the US and UK versions of early Beatles albums, his love of Chuck Berry and his thoughts on the Monkees and lead singer Micky Dolenz, among other wide-ranging topics.
The episodes were recorded in November 2016, ahead of a 40th anniversary tour, and rediscovered in December by Petty’s longtime recording engineer Ryan Ulyate. The first episode is scheduled to premiere at 2 PM Pacific time Saturday, October 20 on Tom Petty Radio, SiriusXM Channel 31. The second and third will premiere in the same time slot on November 19 and December 17. The shows will be repeated throughout each month.

This is from RadioInsight.com, February 21. ChillHop? Cloud Rap? Classic Rock BBQ? Does SiriusXM have an Executive Vice President In Charge Of Coming Up With Dumb Names?
SiriusXM adds 100+ new streaming playlists
SiriusXM has followed its purchase of Pandora with the addition of Pandora-like playlists built as sub-brands of their existing channels. The 100+ new "Xtra Channels" are gradually being rolled out to different internet devices and are currently available on the SiriusXM website and its iOS and Android apps. The channels feature Pandora-like features such as skipping and limited imaging but no personalities and like all of SiriusXM's music channels are commercial-free.
The channels are mostly branded as sub-brands of other SiriusXM music channels with content mostly self-explanatory with names such as Hits1 Discovery, '80s On 8 Workout, Pop2K Top 100, Classic Rock BBQ, '90s On 9 Dance and Prime Country Party. Some of the playlists not attached to other channels include Prom Radio, '90s Rock & Hip-Hop Mash Up, Yoga, ChillHop and Cloud Rap.

On May 1, the limited-run Prom Radio channel will return to SiriusXM Spotlight, channel 4. It's billed as "musical memories of proms from the '80s, '90s and beyond." Yeah, what could be more romantic than slow-dancing to BLACKstreet's No Diggity, right?
-
Tomorrow, May 15, SiriusXM Spotlight channel 4 will begin a countdown of the top 1,000 country songs of all time. I wonder if the countdown will include Gene Autry, Jimmie Rodgers, Emmett Miller, Eck Robertson, Riley Puckett, Vernon Dalhart, Fiddlin' John Carson, Pappy O'Daniel, the Carter Family, Charlie Poole & the North Carolina Ramblers, Gid Tanner & His Skillet Lickers and other artists of the 1920s and '30s. Probably not.

Three country songs each spent 21 weeks at number one: Eddy Arnold's I'll Hold You In My Heart (1947), Hank Snow's I'm Moving On (1950) and Webb Pierce's In The Jailhose Now (1955) – so which of those was the number-one song on SiriusXM's just-concluded Top 1000 Country Countdown? None of them. Number one was Garth Brooks' Friends In Low Places, which topped the chart for four weeks in 1990. No fair! Number two was Patsy Cline's Crazy and #3 was Dolly Parton's 1982 remake of her 1974 hit I Will Always Love You. No fair!
