Looks like nobody likes Midland or Odessa. I live here or at least close by and I have to tell you I like the summer around here. O.K. it's hot, but that is the best part, the dry wind and sand is not so nice, I have to admit that. The winter by the way is cold, even 3 weeks ago we had 25 degrees. I did live in Florida before and all the humidity was killing me, all year long.
As for the economy, Texas and NM are still doing great, even the home prices are climbing.
for sure tony. sounds like i really gotta go now haha
oh i forgot to mention the economy, sorry MISS INQUISITIVE JULIE :O
oh and i liked midland i didnt get to Odessa, it wasnt too big, traffic was easy to handle, downtown was awesome because it was so small and had nobody there, i worked at the att office downtown. Plus the people were typical of west texas extremly polite and welcoming even if i think they are nuts with their political and religious views :O all in all i loved midland, despised midland weather though, which i guess you xcould say i despise desert weather, although i lived in phoenix and it didnt seem half as bad haha. i think what did it for me was the wind.
Hey Sworn to: colts neck really. I live in the Vineyards by the Village School. Will be in AC Saturday night too.
How long have you been in Colts Neck?
Sorry Swornto I didn't read the last part of your post, just shocked that one of my neighbors is posting on the Sirius Buzz. Nice!
How did you get relocated from Vegas what made you decide on Colt's Neck.
I moved to Holmdel in 1993, most of my clients were buying out here and I followed them.
I was honestly impressed with new jersey, i got to see alot of the smaller towns in new jersey they were quite nice and the exact opposite of what i would expect of new jersey, plus the gas was cheaper than in PA :o
Trip: Our gas is always cheaper. Swornto fun lives in the next town over from me in Colts Neck. When I moved to Holmdel back in the early nineties, Colts Neck had some serious horse farms. There was very little development and no over head lighting and many houses were built new with oil heat since there was underground gas. From midnight on the State Police answered all emergencies since there wasn't any colts Neck Police available to answer the calls. there has been some changes there years later now. I moved to Holmdel because it had its own schools, and it was a little more developed at the time and it has its own High School, which now is strange since my son Chris was home schooled during his high school years since he snowboards all winter on the Revolution and Ticket to Ride world snowboarding tours. Thats how I came to buy my house at Stratton because my son was part of the Stratton Mountain comp team.
Tripp, the wind is annoying, esp. when you are jogging or biking and don't forget the fires. As a matter of fact I live in Hobbs,NM , just across the border, same thing only a bit higher elevation.
As a European democrat and not very religious person you can imagine I have my problems to understand some of the political and religious views, but I try and as you mentioned everybody is extremely polite and helpful.
Yesterday I helped a lady on the parking lot at Walmart with her bags and in return I got a Watchtower and an invitation for next sunday at her church.
That's quite a story, L, (may I call you L) It's wonderful you have so many
varied experiences to relate. You sound like an interesting guy with a
good heart. And a gentlemen. Yes, I remember you stepped up to defend me when it became very uncomfortable here. Your kindness toward me was
appreciated, thank you.

My Sister and her husband lived in Colts Neck...I built and sold a home in Las Vegas after being there 13 years.. I was a Union carpenter and then a Superintendent for Bovis at the Venitian Hotel and casio and also a Super for Flour Daniels at the Aladdin Hotel & Casino... I was one of the first at the beginning of the real estate boom to sell my home that I built personally for $23 a Sq Ft and sold it for $200 a sq ft and after their was a threat of a dirty bomb in one of the hotels in LV I decided to buy a handyman special in Colts Neck... I know you would know where it is because its on Holmdel rd.
In the last 3 years i have been doing new retail construction....Ruels in Freehold mall and another Ruels in Anapolis and a Gilly Hicks in CT. and a Hollisters in the Garden state mall in NJ.... Well that all ended right around Christmas so now Im thinking about going back to work for Bovis on the freedom tower but Im not crazy about commuting to manhattan....
Thats about it....If you ever need a experience person in all aspects in residential or commerical construction let me know....Im 50 years old now but by the time i was 44 years old I had over 3 bil of commerical hotel, casino and mall construction under my belt.....I'll proberly bump into you sooner or later if not at the Jersey Shore, The Stone Pony , AC or Homdel Park or something.....Take it easy Tony:cool:
Julie: thanks for the kind words. You can call me L its fine and I will let you in on a little secret. When I first started to post I made a typo and it came out LMaze but it should have been LMazz which is the initial of my first name and the first four letters of my last name. I never changed it and I kind of like it.
So you are a banker? Where did you go to School? I actually went to college in New York City at Fordham University and I when I graduated I got my MBA before I went to Tulane Law. I use my business degree more today than my law degree.
Tony (sworntofun) we are exactly the same age. I know where you are on Holmdel Road, I picked up dinner at Cafe Victoria tonight when I got home from work.
I own the building not far from you that has Neuhaus Realty in it, Make a right on Main Street and I'm usually there in the mornings in my office reading the paper before I go to Brooklyn.
The commute to the Freedom tower really isn't that bad, most of Holmdel is doing that trip since you know who lives here and what they do. But won't you be working on off hours?
Trip:You would think that he's a bad ass, but he's actually very quiet and very professional. He's been around the world with his snowboard, including New Zealand and he has some really cool rider friends, one of whom is Lindsey Jacobellis who won the silver medal at the last Olympics. When she is not out doing the world cups Lindsey rides at Stratton and its quite an experience to snowboard with Lindsey. She is an amazing athlete and quite a special person too. I'm actually pretty tight with her dad Ben and her brother Benny. Really nice family.
Between me and you it is fun to take some of his swag from his sponsors and wear it while I'm snowboarding. Then I become the bad ass.
In the summer he goes to Vancover or Mt. Hood to ride and have a good time with "the bros"
LMaze...
My house is on the corner of Crine and Boundry...you have proberly drove by it a thouand times....My Brother in law owns Varrazano Flooring...I know you have seen his trucks all over....Im in Orlando Fl. hanging out at our time share I purchased 3 years ago...Bonnet Creek I will be back home after friday night....You will have to stop by some time and I do go your way occasionally....I've know the building...anyway its a small world...If their is evey anything I can do for you dont hesitate to come by...
Tripp is one of the first people I met on SiriusBuzz a while ago and it would be great to get together with him sometime this sommer and hangout and show him NJ........
PS I was born in Queens, Moved to California when I was young, returned to Staten Island later and all my family is from Brooklyn, so i know we have to know some of the same people........ Talk at ya later Tony:cool:
Sworntofun: Your brother in law did my assistant's floors in her home on Staten Island, really small world.
It sounds like the three of us are about the same age. We would light up AC no doubt.
No, Jones did NOT get rid of the cancer on the team... he is still the QB.
I don't think T.O. was nearly as detrimental to the team as T.R. He is just SOOO inconsistant that I really do not think there is any way the Cowboys can get to the big game with Romo under center. And yes, I enjoyed every bone crushing sack as well. =)
Die cowboys die, niners all the way
