I am not a stock market expert. I go with my gut after gathering as much information as i can. Can you please explain why its advantageous to have at least a 70% stake by institutional investors. Is it simply about having less traders and therefore more price stability.
Why would large institutions make big bets now on Sirius/XM in the midst of all this automobile and economic uncertainty? I know they look out a year ahead but ....
Question: Not to sound ignorant but what does MM mean and how are they controlling the stock price? I'm long siri....have 2 cars with subs, a sub for my house, sub for the girlfriend, sub for my mom, sub for my dad...and my little sister is graduating college in may....guess what?...another sub coming...may be minuscule my effect on the subs....but i'm doing what i can*
XM, the wholly owned subsidiary of Sirius XM Radio, has filed an application to expand it range of frequencies to include the Sirius Satellite Radio band of frequencies.

We actually had a washout exchange at .08 by big funds,as they've been beaten down last year,so it looks good to buy in jan. and show a 400%return
for 1Q reports to lure new investors..It would look the same IMHO if they buy at this range for end of year return % for same reason..New money will be coming back into the market this year, not sure when but it will,so every winner helps their bottom line.Unfortunately alot of funds can't buy penny stocks,so that is 1 of the reason you will hear a R/S mentioned on here.
P.S. big funds move stock price up with big buys and holds, and less shares to sell.
What's up guys..can someone please answer me the question because i'm a newbie and don't know much.
Does stock manipulation happen all the time in every stock and when a stock is under $1 buck, say, SIRI. The manipulation is even more than stock that over a dollar??
Thanks* I would do a portable...but all my units are built in and i'm into sound quality and prefer the direct connects....used to work for an independent car and home audio shop 2002-2006 during undergrad.....can tell you the last two years i worked there I pushed the hell out of sirius...activated well over 300 personally in that time period....of course we we're getting $5/activation to the employee as a spiff back then....give the incentives again and watch the greedy salespeople sell the service again* :)
i want streaming tv on my iphone.....live updates and scores are free already through a ton of proggies, i want to watch the games not just hear about them.....
what exactly does the MLB app have to offer?
live updates, video highlights of the game delayed by "couple of minutes", all for free on july 11th........just so you know....a nifty app called "sportstap" is free and offers just about the same service minus the video highlights.....but has just about every sport there is, so the MLB app isn't going to have live feeds of sportscasters i take it.....(what i saw on mlb.com), wait ..... the paid version of "At Bat 2009" will let you listen LIVE to every game withough blackout restrictions, the cost of the audio service streamed to PC or MAC is $15 a season........still unknown how much it will be to stream to the iPhone but the application itself will cost as well as an expected monthly fee

what exactly does the DTV app have to offer?
basically it lets you set shows to record on DVR remotely
browse programs by channel upto 14 days in advance
http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global...setId=P5590048
depending on how much the MLB app will charge we will see how much this will actually affect sirius, i don't think it will be as much as a cost savings that people would be willing to cancel their SIRI subs and get MLB app on the iphone, they would lose all the other content to save maybe $5 a month.....as for the DTV app.....should have no bearing on sirius, however, when they come out with streaming video of sports u can bet that will do some damage to subscribers, again depending no how much it costs lol
IMO...looks like MM's are holding it down again and below yesterdays close even though up in premarket...makes it very irratating. Amazing this can't be stopped. Hope uptick rule can minimize this manipulation.
Some people call manipulation "price movement". Some people call it simple mechanics of the stock market, what the MM's do being necessary and not evil or good, but simply there. Some people, like me, think that stocks should rise and fall on simple supply and demand(yes, apparently Im very old school). Unfortunately, it doesnt work that way. Look at Google for an example. Great company. HUGE market share. HUGE cash flow. Why did the stock lose 50% of its value from its highs(actually more).? Bad stock? No. Bad company? No. But when people liquidate positions due to margin calls with other stocks, or just need capital, they sell there biggest gainers, and strongest stocks first. This books profits. Then they will use that money to hold bad positions, or use that capital to average down. When it keeps dropping, they either take the loss, or average down again, and sell more Google. Should Google stockholders cry foul for manipulation? No. With Sirius, it wasnt a capitalization drop(some of it was), but rather a reevaluation drop. When suddenly analyists and stockholders alike realize that the market cap is wayyyy over valued, and MM's will manipulate the price accordingly. Regardless of buying and selling, some stocks just get treated poorly by MM's, due to large institutional buyers wanting lower prices, or a paid short is using a MM to keep the price supressed. In SIriusXM's case, there was a HUGE naked short interest already in the stock prior to the merger announcement. They knew the terms before we did, and understood the consequences. Knowing the news will support the price drop, they sell "naked"shares to put out buying surges, then sell shares they own to drop the price at key points to maximize the effort. Shorts rebuy lower(covering), drive the price up, sell naked again, sell legitamite shares, and repeat. You get a .12 cent stock. Is this illegal? If intentional yes. Is it proveable? Hasnt been to date. Just fines, that get shuffled under the carpet.
But day in and day out, there is always a form of "manipulation". Why does SiriusXM cry so much about it? Becuase we feel our market cap currently does not justify the company. So were going to cry until it does.
