Mays was a member of Woody Herman's band prior to teaming with guitarist Pat Metheny, bassist/trumpeter Mark Egan and drummer Danny Gottlieb in 1977 to form the Pat Metheny Group. The group has gone through many lineup changes but Mays was a member from 1977 until his death. The Pat Metheny Group has released 11 studio albums and two live albums and won 11 Grammy awards. They also recorded the soundtrack to the 1985 spy film The Falcon & The Snowman, which included David Bowie's This Is Not America. Mays also released several solo albums and played on albums by Joni Mitchell, Bobby McFerrin, Rickie Lee Jones, Earth Wind & Fire and other artists.

Shabalala founded the South African male choral group Ladysmith Black Mambazo in 1960 and served as the group's musical director. (Ladysmith was his home town; "mambazo" is the Zulu word for "axe.") They've released 65 albums and ten compilation CDs and they've won five Grammy awards. They backed up Paul Simon on his 1986 CD Graceland and have also recorded with Des'ree, David Guetta and B*Witched.

After Waligwa was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2016, Queen Of Katwe director Mira Nair raised funds to pay for surgery and radiotherapy. Waligwa recovered in 2017 but the tumor returned last December and ultimately took her life. Only 15. How sad.

After being signed to a contract by Century Film Corporation, she made more than 100 shorts, 1921-24. In August 1923, a new contract guaranteed her an annual salary of $1,500,000! Montgomery also appeared in 22 feature films for Universal, 1921-38. Jack Montgomery, her father, was a stuntman and a double for Tom Mix.
