"I voted by mail but I don't want any more mail-in votes to be counted, okay? Every mail-in vote except mine is fraudulent, okay? And thousands of dead people and noncitizens voted! Democrats are trying to steal the election! I'm the real winner! Me! Me! Me!" Yep, Trump outdid himself tonight.

Business Insider and their partners at Decision Desk HQ have become the first media outlet to declare Joe Biden the winner of the 2020 Presidential election. They project Biden as the winner in Pennsylvania, with the races in Alaska, Arizona, Nevada, Georgia and North Carolina still undecided. That gives Biden 273 electoral votes to Trump's 214. Trump, of course, continues to make baseless accusations of voter fraud and a "stolen" election. He refuses to accept the results.

Trump is leading in Alaska and North Carolina and Biden is leading in Arizona, Nevada and Georgia. None of those races have been called yet – but CNN is projecting Biden as the winner in Pennsylvania, where he is now ahead by 34,414 votes with only 2% of the ballots still incounted. That gives Biden 273 electoral votes and the Presidency.

Here are excerpts from this morning's statement by Donald Trump: Biden is "rushing to falsely pose as the winner. This election is far from over. Joe Biden has not been certified as the winner of any states. Beginning Monday, our campaign will start prosecuting our case in court to ensure election laws are fully upheld and the rightful winner is seated." By "rightful winner," Trump means himself. His galaxy-sized ego will not allow him to admit he just lost the election.

Politico senior staff writer Michael Kruse sums it up nicely:
Donald Trump confronts a new label: Loser
Politico, Nov 7 2020 11:34 AM
"I win, I win, I always win. In the end I always win," Donald Trump once said. Now, though, for the first time in his life, in a public and historic way, he has lost. As he has so relentlessly in the past, Trump is fighting against being tagged with a label that he has considered toxic to his brand. He has refused to concede. "The simple fact is this election is far from over," he said in a statement just after the election was called. He promised to fight the results in court, alleging, without evidence, that a massive electoral fraud had robbed him of victory. But his talent for recasting reality to his advantage was incapable of overcoming a statistical truth not only accepted but dictated by the majority of the nation. He lost.

Donald Trump is not going to be happy when he can no longer spread lies, accusations, exaggerations and conspiracy theories on Twitter.
Trump will lose special Twitter protections in January
Reuters, Nov 8 2020 8:08 AM
President Donald Trump will be subject to the same Twitter rules as any other user when President-elect Joe Biden takes office on January 20, the social media company confirmed. Twitter places "public interest" notices on some rule-breaking tweets from world leaders that would otherwise be removed. Such tweets from political candidates and elected or government officials are instead hidden by a warning and Twitter takes actions to restrict their reach. But the company said this treatment does not apply to former office holders and private citizens.

Donald Trump is the tenth United States President to run for re-election and lose. He can continue to refuse to accept reality. He can dispute election results. He can request recounts. He can file lawsuits. He can make allegations of voter fraud. He can hold protest rallies. Nothing will change the fact that he lost the election.
Biden plans for White House as Trump plans rallies to protest his election loss
Reuters, Nov 8 2020 12:24 AM
Democrat Joe Biden began preparing today to deal with the coronavirus and other problems that will confront him as President of a divided America, while President Donald Trump planned campaign-style rallies to contest the election. One day after Biden clinched enough states to win the Presidency, Trump gave no sign of conceding and many of his Republican allies in Congress likewise did not acknowledge Biden's victory in last Tuesday's election. Instead, Trump will hold a series of rallies to build support for the legal fights challenging the outcome. He also announced teams to pursue recounts in several states.

Donald Trump has complained for months about "voter fraud." He has never presented any evidence. We know by his past actions, Attorney General William Barr has chosen to serve Donald Trump and not the American people – and Barr knows that if he does not agree with Trump, he will be fired. Just as he did in 2016, Trump is explaining his loss in the popular vote by insisting there is widespread "voter fraud." He of course offers no evidence. Attorney General William Barr, hoping to keep his job for the next ten weeks, is staying on Trump's good side by making the same false claims. The backlash has begun.

Analysis: Alarm grows over Trump's 'dictator moves' as he denies election defeat
CNN, Nov 11 2020 12:39 AM ET
President Donald Trump's administration is taking on the characteristics of a tottering regime – with its loyalty tests, destabilizing attacks on the military chain of command, a deepening bunker mentality and increasingly delusional claims of political victory. In response, a visibly confident President-elect Joe Biden is going out of his way to project calm amid the deepening chaos, even as Trump and senior Republicans still refuse to acknowledge the President's defeat in a stunning break with America's democratic traditions.
Biden is taking calls with leaders of the country's top allies, which reflects the inevitability of his ascent to power. While the President is staying behind closed doors, tweeting in wild block capital letters and unleashing a purge of the Pentagon's civilian leadership, Biden is reassuring the American people with a composure granted by an election win that Trump's threadbare legal cases baselessly alleging massive voter fraud have little chance of overturning the will of the voters.

Trump has filed another lawsuit. With 99% of the ballots counted in Michigan, Trump is losing by 148,645 votes and he doesn't want the state to certify its election results. I'm assuming he has no objections to certification in states that he won. Give it up, Donald. You lost! You will not have a second term!

Biden names Ron Klain as his White House chief of staff
CNN, Nov 11 2020 8:36 PM ET
President-elect Joe Biden has tapped Ron Klain to be his incoming chief of staff, the Biden transition office said in a news release today, elevating his longtime aide to one of the most powerful positions in the White House. Klain is one of Biden's most trusted campaign advisers and was long seen as the most likely pick for the top job. He previously served as chief of staff to Vice President Al Gore during the Clinton administration and Biden during his tenure as President Barack Obama's vice president.

Another red state has turned blue. Biden now has 290 electoral votes. The races in Georgia (16 electoral votes) and North Carolina (15 electoral votes) still have not been called – but it appears Biden will wind up with 306 electoral votes and Trump will have 232. Delusional Donald will, of course, continue to insist he won the election.
