The Palisades fire has now burned 23, 654 acres (37 square miles) and destroyed more than 3,000 structures and is moving eastward, threatening Brentwood and Encino. It is 11% contained. The Eaton fire has burned more than 14,000 acres (22 square miles) and destroyed more than 7,000 structures and is 15% contained.

Firefighters made progress over the weekend. The Eaton fire is now 27% contained and the Palisades fire is 14% contained. The death toll has risen to 24.

There have been five brush fires in San Diego County in the past two days – and late this morning a fire broke out near Lake Hughes Road north of Castaic in northwest Los Angeles County. It has burned nearly 15 square miles and forced the evacuation of 31,000 people.
