A bipartisan report from the Senate Intelligence Committee released on Tuesday has backed the US intelligence community's conclusion that Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election to help then-candidate Donald Trump. The committee's findings are a rebuke to Trump's attacks on the intelligence community and his frequent claims of a "hoax" that Russia was trying to help him win. The panel concluded that the Obama administration's assessment on Russian election interference was crafted without political bias, undercutting the President's claims that officials like former CIA Director John Brennan and Director of National Intelligence James Clapper were using the intelligence community to attack him.

King Donald is also a mean, nasty bully with no ethics, no morals, no empathy and no compassion and thus will never ever be called "noble." It's understandable that he would get "Nobel" and "noble" confused.

New York Times: Justice Department secretly curtailed investigation into Trump's Russia ties

The US Justice Department in 2017 took secret steps to curtail the special counsel investigation into Russian election interference and possible coordination with the Trump campaign, former law enforcement officials told The New York Times. According to the newspaper, former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein had ordered former special counsel Robert Mueller to examine "any links and/or coordination between the Russian government" and Trump's campaign but former law enforcement officials said Rosenstein told Mueller privately to conduct only a criminal investigation.
The revelation is likely to fuel new scrutiny from Democrats who have long argued that the President's ties to Russia have yet to be fully examined without interference. Mueller had documented extensive evidence in his final report in March 2019 that Trump tried to obstruct the Russia investigation in multiple ways, and declined to make a charging decision. A Justice Department policy said a sitting President could not be indicted.
