Donald Trump continued to push lies about a stolen election while reacting to lawyer Sidney Powell’s decision to accept a plea deal from Georgia prosecutors trying Trump and associates with racketeering and conspiracy. In a Sunday morning post on Truth Social, the former President tried to distance himself from the attorney, who was a key figure in his 2020 “Stop the Steal” efforts.
Trump wrote, "Sidney Powell was one of millions and millions of people who thought, and in ever increasing numbers still think, correctly, that the 2020 Presidential Election was RIGGED & STOLLEN, AND OUR COUNTRY IS BEING ABSOLUTELY DESTROYED BECAUSE OF IT!!! Despite the Fake News reports to the contrary, MS. POWELL WAS NOT MY ATTORNEY AND NEVER WAS."
Trump officially announced when Powell became part of his "truly great" legal team on November 15, 2020, less than two weeks after President Joe Biden was elected by 81 million American voters. Powell agreed to a plea deal with Georgia prosecutors and will provide evidence against Trump and co-conspirators in the Fulton County racketeering case.

Fulton County prosecutors do not intend to offer plea deals to Donald Trump and two high-level co-defendants – Trump's former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and Trump’s former lawyer Rudy Giuliani – charged in connection with their efforts to overturn the 2020 election in Georgia, according to two people familiar with the matter, preferring instead to force them to trial. Fulton County district attorney Fani Willis has opened plea talks or has left open the possibility of talks with the remaining 16 co-defendants in the hope that they ultimately decide to become cooperating witnesses against the former President.

A three-judge panel in the U.S. Court of Appeals has rejected former President Donald Trump's claim of presidential immunity as it pertains to his federal election interference case. "For the purpose of this criminal case, former President Trump has become citizen Trump, with all of the defenses of any other criminal defendant," the judges wrote in their 57-page decision, saying Trump "lacked any lawful discretionary authority to defy federal criminal law and he is answerable in court for his conduct."
