President Donald Trump says he has suspended plans to impose tariffs on Mexico, tweeting that the country "has agreed to take strong measures" to stem the flow of Central American migrants into the United States. "I am pleased to inform you that The United States of America has reached a signed agreement with Mexico," Trump tweeted tonight, saying the "tariffs scheduled to be implemented by the US on Monday are hereby indefinitely suspended." He said Mexico has agreed to work to "stem the tide of Migration through Mexico, and to our Southern Border" and said those steps would "greatly reduce, or eliminate, Illegal Immigration coming from Mexico and into the United States." Details will be released soon by the State Departemnt.

The real reason is that Emperor Trump hates immigrants and hates California and wants to discourage undocumented immigrants from taking part in the census. California's population would thus be undercounted and the state would lose some of its federal funding and might also lose one or two representatives in Congress. A 2015 study concluded that the citizenship question would "help Republicans in redistricting while hurting Hispanic communities and Democrats." Republicans don't care about what is good for our nation. They care only about what is good for Republicans.
