Florida. Of course it's Florida. Maybe the culprit is a tire dealer.
'Mad Nailer' deliberately scattering roofing nails on a portion of Florida's US 1
Fox News, Mar 16 2018
Officials in a central Florida town are trying to nail a "Mad Nailer" who is deliberately scattering roofing nails along the portion of U.S. 1 that goes through their community. Oak Hill city commissioner Bill Lindlau wrote on Facebook, "There seems to be a 'Mad Nailer' operating in Oak Hill. He/she is throwing nails out at intersections along US 1. It has been going on for some time." The nails have been responsible for flattening a number of tires, include one belonging to the wife of Oak Hill Mayor Doug Gibson. Gibson ordered the purchase of three magnetic rollers to scoop up the nails. So far hundreds have been collected. David Lee told WOFL he has spent more than $4,000 fixing and replacing tires on his work trucks due to the nails. "They keep doing it. They don’t give up. They just keep putting the nails out," he said.

Florida. Yes, Florida again. I can hear the lawyer now: "Sir, you have no basis for charging my client with stealing sand. Doesn't all sand look alike? Here are five grains of sand. Three came from the beach and two came from my client's property. Can you tell them apart?"

Guinness World Records should honor worthwhile achievements and noteworthy accomplishments, not idiotic feats such as this one. "My father is a firefighter and has put out more than a hundred fires!" "My father has written more than a hundred books!" "Well, my father put watermelons on his stomach and cut them in half!" Big whoop.

Cows help catch suspect in Florida police chase
Jalopnik.com, Aug 9 2018 11:35 AM
Police in Sanford, Florida saw a stolen Subaru on Monday and tried to pull it over. The driver ran a stop sign trying to get away before crashing into a ditch. The driver, Jamie Young, ran in one direction while a passenger, Jennifer Kaufman, ran in another. A third passenger, Erin Thomas, stayed in the car. The K-9 unit helped catch Young hiding in some bushes. But Kaufman was still running when she ran right into a group of cows, which then proceeded to run after her and push her toward the edge of the field and right into the authorities' hands.
Young, Kaufman and Thomas were arrested on drug charges, petit theft, possession of cocaine, resisting an officer and trespassing. Young was also charged with theft of a motor vehicle, giving false identification, and driving with a suspended or revoked license and Thomas was also charged with giving false identification.

PETA members do a lot of bizarre stunts in their efforts to call attention to the need to protect animals. This is one of the most bizarre:
PETA asks Maine for permission to honor dead lobsters with a big roadside gravestone
CBS News, Aug 30 2018
Animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has asked officials for permission to erect a 5-foot tombstone to mark the site of an August truck crash that spewed lobsters onto a Maine road.
If the state's Department of Transportation grants the request, PETA says it will memorialize the "countless sensitive crustaceans" who were killed during the August 22 crash in Brunswick. The gravestone would read "In Memory of the Lobsters Who Suffered and Died at This Spot" and urge people to "Try Vegan."
The crash involved a truck carrying 7,000 pounds of lobster. After the truck rolled over, traffic backed up for hours as crews attempted to clear the street of the crustaceans. Several lobsters were crushed as a result of the crash. The Department of Transportation is reviewing PETA's request.
