The White House just issued a statement declaring that the Senate impeachment trial ended with Trump's "full vindication and exoneration." Of course that is a lie. King Donald the First was not vindicated. King Donald the First was not exonerated. All 100 Senators, Democrats and Republicans alike, knew Trump was guilty of withholding Congressionally-approved aid, seeking re-election help from a foreign country, ignoring subpoenas, hiding evidence, threatening witnesses and obstructing investigations. Democrats voted to remove him from office for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The Republican majority voted for acquittal because, hey, there's absolutely nothing wrong – nothing! – with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. At least, not if the President is a Republican.
Congressional Republicans, all of whom have sold their souls to Donald Trump, have ensured that King Donald the First remains above the law and above the Constititution and has the power to do whatever he wants, answerable to no one and accountable to no one. As a ruthless, power-mad, self-serving dictator who seeks to silence his critics, Trump is in fine company. He joins Hitler, Stalin, Lenin, Mao, Pol Pot, Idi Amin, Ho Chi Minh, Nicholas II, Kim Jong-Il and Bashar al-Assad. Today is truly the saddest day in our nation's history.

More than 270 "Reject the Cover-Up" protests are taking place across the nation tonight. The Senate impeachment verdict which King Donald the First falsely calls an "exoneration" is indeed a cover-up. It was a trial with no witnesses and no documents and a pre-ordained outcome: Republicans refusing to remove Trump from office for abusing his power, withholding Congressionally-approved military aid from Ukraine, pressuring a foreign country to dig up dirt on a political rival, interfering with investigations, hiding evidence, withholding documents, refusing to comply with subpoenas and ordering his aides to refuse to comply with subpoenas. Republicans believe all those acts are perfectly okay, provided the President is a Republican. American voters will never forget how Congressional Republicans betrayed the United States of America, the Constitution and the rule of law. Today is America's darkest day.

Congressional Republicans have sold their souls to Donald Trump. They see nothing wrong with King Donald the First abusing the power of his office, violating the Presidential oath of office, violating the Constitution, suspending Congressionally-approved military aid, pressuring a foreign country to dig up dirt on a political rival (and United States citizen) and trying to cheat to win re-election. But, boo-hoo, they just hate it when a Democrat fails to show proper respect to King Donald the First. Look how petty they are:

Will the 2020 Presidential election be fair and honest? Well, Congressional Republicans have made it clear that they see nothing wrong with Trump cheating to win re-election. Asking a foreign country to dig up dirt on a political rival is just fine 'n' dandy. Even if the election is fair and honest – which is now highly doubtful – Americans will believe it is not fair and honest. Blame the Congressional Republicans who value Trump and their party above the Constitution, above the rule of law, above national security and above the integrity of our elections.

"I am King Donald the First! I have absolute power! Article II gives me the right to do whatever I want! How dare Romney say I abused my power! Off with his head!" King Donald the First also attacked the impeachment process and the Mueller investigation: "It was evil. It was corrupt. It was dirty cops. It was leakers and liars." Yes, the world's all-time biggest liar calls everyone who testified under oath a "liar." Welcome to Trumpworld.

King Donald the First claimed he was totally exonerated by the Mueller report, even though the report clearly said he was not exonerated. King Donald the First is now claiming he was totally exonerated in the impeachment trial, even though he was not exonerated. The pompous, egotistical, narcissistic, orange-skinned buffoon who brags that he's a "genius" obviously does not know the meaning of "exoneration."

Napolitano, a syndicated columnist, Fox News legal analyst and former New Jersey Superior Court judge, said today on Fox & Friends he knew Trump's acquittal was inevitable: "When they barred live witnesses – and we knew the evidence the House had wasn't enough to persuade Republicans in the Senate – it was just a matter of time." In an op-ed for FoxNews.com, Napolitano lamented, "By manipulating Senate Republicans to bar firsthand evidence and keep it from Senatorial and public scrutiny, Trump and his Senate collaborators have insulated him and future Presidents from the moral and constitutional truism that no President is above the law." Yes, thanks to Congressional Republicans, all of whom have sold their souls to Donald Trump, King Donald the First is above the law and above the Constitution. Welcome to the autocracy.

Clinton says she is not surprised that Senate Republicans acquitted a Republican President. I don't think anyone is surprised. King Donald the First has turned the Republican party into a cult. He is the orange-skinned cult leader and all the brainwashed, blindly loyal Congressional Republicans worship him, support him, protect him, defend him and would march through the flames of hell if he asked them to. Anyone care for some cyanide-laced grape Flavor Aid?

Mitt Romney condemned Trump's Ukraine scheme as "an appalling abuse of the public trust." Romney was the only Senate Republican to vote to convict Trump on the first article of impeachment, abuse of power. He explained, "Were I to ignore the evidence and disregard what I believe my oath [to be an impartial juror] and the Constitution demands of me for the sake of a partisan end, it would, I fear, expose my character to history's rebuke and the censure of my own conscience." Democrats admire Romney for his decision. Republican lawmakers, however, are condemning Romney for not marching in lockstep with the other 52 Senate Republicans who are brainwashed, blindly loyal members of the Cult of Donald Trump and worship their orange-skinned cult leader as if he's a god. How dare Romney fail to show total, complete, undying devotion to King Donald the First!

After being acquitted in a Senate impeachment trial, Bill Clinton offered a contrite apology to the nation and a fervent call for reconciliation. King Donald the First, however, has the emotional makeup of an eight-year-old spoiled brat and never apologizes for anything. The closest he came to an apology after being acquitted on two articles of impeachment – thanks to Senate Republicans who have sold their souls to Donald Trump and ensure he remains above the law – was saying he's sorry his family had to "go through a phony, rotten deal by some evil and sick people." Yes, in Trumpworld, the topsy-turvy land of delusions where bad is good, wrong is right, down is up and the Constitution is unconstitutional, anyone who fails to worship King Donald the First as much as he worships himself is "evil" and "sick." He called Nancy Pelosi a "horrible person" and called Democrats "dishonest and corrupt" and "vicious as hell." He also claimed he was impeached "for nothing." Wow.
In 1999, Clinton was 'humbled' by impeachment. Now, Trump unloads on a 'phony, rotten deal.'

"'Vengeance is mine,' declares King Donald the First. 'I will repay.'" King Donald the First could easily issue the order, "Off with their heads!" Instead, he's apparently preparing to punish everyone who testified against him in the House impeachment investigation by firing them, demoting them or reassigning them. He views them all as unpatriotic for daring to tell the truth about him. For failing to worship, honor, protect and defend King Donald the First, they must be punished!

In an opinion piece, The Daily Beast editor in chief Rick Wilson expresses his dismay that the "utterly guilty" President was acquitted. Wilson described Trump's two lengthy rants: "King Donald the Malevolent let his rage, manias and petty vengeances out to play, bellowing like a third-world warlord in a display of political performance art that was almost unbearably grotesque in its affront to American values, the law and our collective sanity." We now have a power-mad, self-serving autocrat who is free to do whatever he wants, answerable to no one and accountable to no one. On February 5, 2020, the federal republic of the United States of America ceased to exist.

King Donald the First, the power-mad, self-serving autocrat who is above the law and above the Constitution and is free to do whatever he wants, has already starting to wreak his vengeance upon everyone who dared to testify in the House impeachment investigation. No, Nancy Pelosi did not "break the law." Vain, pompous, egotistical, narcissistic, immature, petulant, thin-skinned King Donald the First has two choices: He can issue the royal command, "Off with her head!" or he can use his Kingly authority to make ripping a copy of a speech a federal crime, punishable by imprisonment or death.

The purge continues. King Donald the First fired Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch in May because she stood in the way of his plans to pressure Ukraine into investigating the Bidens. Today, King Donald the First fired Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman and his twin brother, Lt. Col. Yevgeny Vindman, a National Security Council attorney. Now King Donald the First has fired Gordon Sondland. Democratic Representative Mike Quigley told CNN today Senate Republicans have created an autocrat who believes he can do anything he wants. That includes firing people for telling the truth and defending the Constitution. Trump retaliates against anyone who isn't totally loyal to him. That, Quigley says, is scary. But, hey, that is what a King does.

King Donald the First has decided history should be rewritten. His impeachment should be expunged, he says, because it was a "hoax." No, King Donald, it was not a hoax. It was a legitimate Constitutional process, a means of removing a President who abuses the power of his office for personal gain. The "hoax" was perpetrated by Congressional Republicans, all of whom have sold their souls to you. By voting for your acquittal, they have ensured that you remain above the law and above the Constitution, free to do whatever you want, with no accountability to anyone. CNN editor-at-large Chris Cillizza writes that King Donald the First "did what he does best: Exacted revenge on his enemies." The "enemies" were Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, the top Ukraine expert on the National Security Council; his twin brother, Lt. Col. Yevgeny Vindman, a senior lawyer and ethics official at the NSC; and Gordon Sondland, an Oregon hotelier who donated $1 million to Trump's inauguration committee and was appointed ambassador to the European Union. King Donald the First fired all three.
Alexander Vindman was alarmed by Trump asking a foreign leader to investigate the Bidens and reported it to his superiors. Vindman testified in the House impeachment investigation. He was "punished for telling the truth," said his attorney, David Pressman. "It cost him his job, his career and his privacy. He followed orders, he obeyed his oath and he served his country. And for that, the most powerful man in the world has decided to exact revenge." Sondland testified that everyone in the White House was "in the loop" regarding Trump's "quid pro quo" offer: the release of Ukraine's military aid in exchange for President Zelensky agreeing to dig up dirt on the Bidens.
Senator Robert Menendez denounced Trump's purge as "clear political retaliation, the likes of which is seen only in authoritarian countries around the world." He called Trump's conduct "reprehensible, yet sadly predictable." Representative Eliot Engel said the firings are "shameful": "Trump believes the only loyalty that matters is loyalty to him personally." February 5, 2020: The day America died. Long live the King!

Letter from Ramona Saenz of Alhambra in today's Los Angeles Times:
"Our nation is as divided as it's ever been. Under Trump's Presidency, partisanship has reached a toxic level and I shudder to think what will happen if he remains in office for four more years. The way I see it, Republicans share a larger blame for the current state of affairs. I recall newly inaugurated President Obama in 2009 attempting to work with Republicans in Congress. I also remember McConnell vowing to make him a 'one-term President' and urging his colleagues to obstruct everything and anything the President tried to do.
Knowing full well that Trump is guilty as sin and that the House managers proved their case, Republicans voted to acquit him, further emboldening a President with autocratic tendencies and validating his core belief that he is above the law. Democracy may not be dead yet but, as far as I'm concerned, it is in a deep coma."

Democrats, liberals and left-leaning news outlets are not alone in expressing their alarm over Trump's abuse of power, obstruction of Congress, impeachment acquittal and vindictive retaliation against those who testified against him. Millions of conservatives and many right-wing news outlets are equally alarmed. Every American should be alarmed that Senate Republicans have turned Donald Trump into an all-powerful King who is above the law and above the Constitution and can do whatever he wants, answerable to no one and accountable to no one. This is from David Rothkopf, an author, political scientist and member of the Council on Foreign Relations:

King Donald the First presented a Presidential Medal of Freedom to Rush Limbaugh, a hateful, racist bigot who pushed the false story that Barack Obama was born in Kenya. How did King Donald the First honor Alexander Vindman, a Lieutenant Colonel and the top Ukraine expert on the National Security Council, a patriotic American who honors his oath to protect and defend the United States of America and the Constitution? King Donald fired him. John Kirby, a CNN national security analyst, retired rear admiral and former Defense Department spokesman, contrasts Vindman's honor and character with the "pettiness" and "vengefulness" of Donald Trump:
