Sirius Shortages To Find Relief
By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 3/11/2009 8:07:00 AM
Hauppauge, N.Y. — Responding to severe shortages on a key Sirius tuner, new Sirius distributor Audiovox said it will improve supplies of the product this month with consistent supplies to follow.
Retailers said the Sirius universal SCC1 tuner that works with many in-car radios has been out of stock since Feb. 1, when Audiovox assumed the role of master distributor for Sirius, replacing DEI Holdings.
Crutchfield and others called the shortages “acute.”
Audiovox said it inherited the shortages. “Basically, when the transfer of inventory took place from the DEI inventory, there wasn’t enough to satisfy demand,” said Audiovox OEM group VP Rick Monpetit. “Orders have been placed, and we expect to have inventory this month, with a consistent flow of inventory following this month,” he added.
Audiovox will also announce new programs in the coming weeks for new customers and said, “There may be a couple of price changes, not necessarily increases. Were looking at all models to see what the market warrants,” said Monpetit.
Audiovox has been the XM key distributor since 2005 and is now master distributor for both Sirius and XM.
Hard to sell a product that you don't have.
Any word on a show tomorrow night?? It's been over a month now....
I agree with Wirestripper. The quarter wasnt good. Period. Their balance sheet improvements are reflecting, but long term growth seems challenged in existing model. So unless I hear their model is changing, and they have new revenue streams,I cant hold a full position on this stock. I may believe Mel, if he says something I like, but it better be very very specific. Other than that, Im holding off, and looking to rebuy lower. If after the CC comes and goes, and a few days after, and this hastn broken .18 cents...
Its not going to be good. And I didnt panic sell after Brandon sold, I sold anytime I think a drop is coming. In fact, first "factual" based transaction Ive had on this stock in a long time. I still think LONG term this stock will do better than .15 cents. Just not today. If I hear something I like tomorrow, Id rather panic buy, than panic sell. Panic buying Im ok with. But Mel has done nothing in the CC since Ive been an owner to make me trust him, or feel he knows what he is doing with the product end of things. He knows how to tank stocks, fake BK, and broker deals, thats been proven. :D
Demian..taken form nasdaq...what kind of trades are these...early as 5:28 .24 then jumps to 7:38 .16?
07:59 $ .15 101
07:38 $ .17 400
07:38 $ .16 100
05:28 $ .24 100
Those are 100 share blocks that mean absolutely nothing. Manipulators in the very early and very end of extended trading can paint the tape pretty easily. The retail public can't trade during these times during what is known as "pit trading". Free and open market? Free market capitalism? What a joke.....
Thanks again Demian..
it is a lot of BS they way the pit trades and the retail buyers get screwed this way. AGAIN
Another step deeper into darkness, closer to the light....

Sirius XM Radio's sales exceed forecasts
Associated Press, 03.11.09, 11:27 AM EDT
Sirius XM Radio Inc. posted a narrower fourth-quarter loss on higher sales and lower costs, but its net subscriber growth slowed markedly.
The New York-based satellite radio company said late Tuesday it lost $248.5 million in the three months ended Dec. 31, compared with a loss of $405 million in the year-earlier quarter.
The results assume the July 2008 combination of Sirius (nasdaq: SIRI - news - people ) and XM Radio was completed on Jan. 1, 2007, and exclude the impact of stock-based compensation and other adjustments.
Sales on a pro forma basis climbed to $644.1 million from $577.5 million a year earlier. Actual sales were $622.2 million, up from $249.8 million.
Analysts expected a loss of 7 cents per share on sales of $615.5 million, according to a Thomson Reuters survey. Such estimates typically exclude items.
Sirius also said that, by the end of last year, the number of its subscribers grew 10 percent to 19 million subscribers. The average revenue generated per customer rose to $10.60 from $10.42.
But the "churn," or turnover rate edged higher to 1.8 percent from 1.7 percent a year earlier. And net subscriber additions during the quarter fell to just 82,900 from 1.1 million.
The slower customer growth reflects the dramatic impact the U.S. economy has had on car sales, a critical factor for Sirius because the company gains many new customers by packaging its service with new vehicles.
The company's actual loss in the fourth quarter - the first full quarter of combined operations - came to $245.8 million, or 8 cents per share, compared with a loss of 166.2 million, or 11 cents per share, a year earlier.
Adjusted income from operations came to $31.8 million, after a loss of $224.1 million a year earlier. A revenue increase of $86.6 million and a $219.8 million decrease in operating costs boosted the most recent results.
For the full year, Sirius' loss came to $902.3 million on a pro forma basis, compared with a loss of $1.25 billion in 2007.
The company's actual loss totaled $5.31 billion, or $2.45 per share.

haha yeah i know i just got shit for it from charles so im looking for the fair play act to take effect :O man the idea of siri opening up like a couple channels for free would be amazing, open up 4 channels for free, a news channel a pop and rock channel and a talk channel. People will love it specially if they travel they will be able to get these 4 stations wherever they are at and they will always be high quality, a good popular music channel or a good news station, maybe even a decent morning show and you could have a hit, but you some how have to get the word out there to these people who have have deactivated satradios know that the channels are there. I think this would open up a lot of revenue for siri specially if these channels are good and become popular around the country.
ps hmm maybe 5 stations you gotta have country in there!!!!!!
Morning all -
Looks like things were better than some of us expected this morning...
