Former Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio and three other members of the far-right extremist group were convicted today of a plot to attack the U.S. Capitol in a desperate bid to keep Donald Trump in power after the Republican lost the 2020 presidential election. A jury in Washington DC found Tarrio guilty of seditious conspiracy after hearing from dozens of witnesses over more than three months in one of the most serious cases brought in the stunning attack that unfolded on January 6, 2021, as the world watched on live TV.
It’s a significant milestone for the Justice Department, which has now secured seditious conspiracy convictions against the leaders of two major extremist groups prosecutors say were intent on keeping Democrat Joe Biden out of the White House at all costs. The charge carries a prison sentence of up to 20 years.

Stewart Rhodes was sentenced yesterday to 18 years in prison. Kelly Meggs was sentenced to 12 years. Both are members of the Oath Keepers and both were convicted of seditious conspiracy for their roles in the deadly, Trump-incited Capitol riot. Two more Oath Keepers were sentenced today. Both are Army veterans. One of them called herself an "idiot." She got that right!

Donald Trump spent many months falsely claiming the 2020 election was rigged and stolen. Donald Trump ordered his blindly loyal supporters to "march to the Capitol and fight like hell" and to "stop the steal" by preventing Joe Biden's confirmation as President. And yet, Donald Trump continues to insist he did not incite the deadly riot. So far, 174 of the rioters who have been charged said they were doing what Donald Trump asked them to do. Donald Trump should be sharing a prison cell with them.

On June 2, 2020, Donald Trump declared, "I am your President of law and order." On January 6, 2021, Donald Trump told his blindly loyal supporters, "You don't concede when there's theft involved.
