II Timothy 4:3-5, The Living Bible: "There is going to come a time when people won’t listen to the truth but will go around looking for teachers who will tell them just what they want to hear. They won’t listen to what the Bible says but will blithely follow their own misguided ideas." And that explains Republicans and their blindly loyal devotion to, and worship of, the orange-skinned false god Donald Trump.

Congressional Republicans can't dispute the charges against Trump so instead they're attacking the impeachment process, calling it a "sham," a "hoax," a "partisan witch hunt" and an "attempt to overturn the election." By refusing to hold Trump accountable for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, Republicans are ensuring that Trump remains above the law. They are showing the world that Trump and their party are of supreme importance and the Constitution, the rule of law, the Presidential oath of office and the integrity of our elections do not matter. They are also hastening the Republican party's descent into irrelevancy.

Emperor Trump worships himself. He thinks he's a god: perfect, infallible and incapable of doing wrong. He also knows nothing about the United States Constitution or the impeachment process. He thinks impeachment can be launched upon the opposing party's slightest whim and without cause. He told reporters today, "It's a sham, it's a hoax, it's a witch hunt. Nothing was done wrong." Welcome to Trumpworld, the topsy-turvy land of delusions where down is up, bad is good, wrong is right and Emperor Trump reigns supreme.

Impeachment is the Constitutional remedy when a President has committed "high crimes and !isdemeanors" but, as CNN editor-in-chief Chris Cillizza notes, Trump's impeachment will have no effect on the deep partisan divide in our nation. Trump's haters will continue to hate him and his defenders will continue to defend him. And Trump, who has a galaxy-sized ego, believes he'll go down in history as the greatest President ever. Uh, yeah, about that.....

In Alice's Adventures In Wonderland, the Queen's policy in court trials is "Sentence first, verdict later." Trumpworld is infinitely more bizarre, delusional, illogical and topsy-turvy than Wonderland. Congressional Republicans are blindly loyal members of the Cult of Donald Trump. The minute the impeachment inquiry was announced, they unanimously announced their verdict: Trump has done nothing wrong – and anyway, who cares about some silly old Constitution, the rule of law, the balance of powers, the Presidential oath of office, our national security and the integrity of our elections? "We declare Trump innocent. We'll have a trial later." How sad that Republicans care only about Trump and their party – and nothing else matters.

All 23 Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee approved the two articles of impeachment against President Trump. All 17 Republicans voted no. Republicans, of course, care only about Trump and their party. They do not care about the Constitution, the rule of law, the balance of powers, the Presidential oath of office, national security or the integrity of our elections. They all are blindly loyal members of the Cult of Donald Trump and they worship their orange-skinned idol.
Arizona Representative Debbie Lesko said Democrats "had no proof, no evidence, no crime, but they went ahead anyway and they're tearing the country apart. They should be ashamed." Trump and Mulvaney admitted to the military-aid-for-dirt-on-Biden offer and several witnesses confirmed it in House testimony. Details are also in the Trump-Zelensky phone call transcript. "No proof" and "no evidence"? Lesko, same as all the other Congressional Republicans, lives in Trumpworld, the topsy-turvy land of delusions where wrong is right, bad is good, lies are truth and Emperor Trump reigns supreme.

Congressional Republicans have made Donald Trump their god. They adore him, they worship him, they defend him and they protect him. In their blind loyalty to their orange-skinned idol, they no longer have any regard for the United States of America, the Constitution, national security or the rule of law. If need be, they would follow Trump into the flames of hell – and Lindsey Graham would be the first in line.

This essay confirms what I've been saying: Congressional Republicans' inviolable policy is "See no evil in Trump, hear no evil about Trump, speak no evil about Trump." And the White House has decreed that henceforth nobody other than Trump's senior-most aides will be allowed to listen in on his phone calls. That means even less transparency in the administration that Trump falsely claims is "the most transparent administration in history."

Emperor Trump habitually berates and insults women and Democrats. Here is his latest target. She's "ripping me as part of the Democrats' impeachment hoax," squawked the orange-skinned parrot. "Hoax! Scam! Witch hunt! Hoax! Scam! Witch hunt! Awwrrkkk!"

Senate Republicans will ignore all the overwhelming evidence of Trump's abuse of power and obstruction of Congress and will unanimously vote to acquit him. They falsely accused Democrats of running a "kangaroo court," which is defined as "a mock court in which the principles of law and justice are disregarded or perverted." The Senate trial will be a kangaroo court – but you won't hear any Republicans admit it. They blindly worship the orange-skinned idol who leads the Cult of Donald Trump and they will go to their graves insisting Trump has never ever done anything wrong. Trump and their party are all that matters – not the Constitution, not the rule of law, not the Presidential oath of office, not anything other than their false god Donald Trump and the Republican party.

Letter from Allan Gerson of Encino in today's Los Angeles Times:
"President Trump and some of his allies keep saying impeachment is a coup. There may be a kind of coup going on but it is by him and his followers. Think about it. He won't produce any information demanded by Congress. He won't let anyone working for him talk to Congress. More importantly, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is in a position where he could have the President acquitted almost immediately. Attorney General William Barr won't allow investigations aside from the ones Trump wants. The judiciary is being stacked with judges who favor the President. Our government is being turned into a rubber stamp for Trump."

If Republicans were not brainwashed, blindly loyal members of the Cult of Donald Trump, they would be questioning why Trump, if he is as innocent as he claims, will not allow his aides to testify. House impeachment investigators wanted to hear testimony from Donald Trump, William Barr, John Bolton, Mick Mulvaney, Mike Pompeo, Robert Blair, Rick Perry, Michael Duffey and others in the Trump administration but they refused to comply with subpoenas and Democrats did not want to launch court proceedings against them that were sure to drag on until Election Day – or later. Schumer would like four of those men to testify during the Senate impeachment trial. The Stonewaller-In-Chief and his loyal lapdog Mitch will likely refuse to allow them to. What are Trump and McConnell so afraid of? The truth?

Many Congressional Democrats are up for re-election in districts won by Trump in 2016. They have two choices: Support impeachment and run the risk of losing in 2020 or oppose impeachment and avoid jeopardizing their political future. Unlike Republicans who value Trump and the Republican party above the Constitution and the rule of law, these Democrats are putting the Constitution and the rule of law above their party. What a concept!

Senate Republicans do not want any witnesses to tesify during the impeachment trial. They don't want Americans learning additional details about Trump's abuse of power and Giuliani's shadow foreign policies. Eventually, though, we will learn additional details. Case in point:

My first thought upon seeing this headline was: Only 650 pages? Of course there could be 650 million pages of evidence against Trump and Republicans would still ignore it all. Congressional Republicans know Emperor Trump's withholding of Congressionally-approved military aid and dangling it as a bribe to pressure Ukraine into digging up dirt on Biden is wrong, violates the Presidential oath of office and jeopardizes national security and the integrity of the upcoming election. Unfortunately, Congressional Republicans have no spine, no ethics and no morals. They are blindly loyal members of the Cult of Donald Trump and have sold their souls to their orange-skinned idol. They will go through the motions of an impeachment trial and then will unanimously vote to acquit Trump. Yes, the trial is rigged. It will not be fair at all – and Emperor Trump will remain above the law. God help us.

Donald Trump is the vain, pompous, egotistical, narcissistic, orange-skinned ruler of Trumpworld, the topsy-turvy land of delusions where bad is good, wrong is right and lies are truth. In a nasty six-page letter, he complained about Pelosi hurting the "loving members" of his family, accused Democrats of election interference, compared impeachment to the Salem witch trials and once again insisted he's done nothing wrong. Somewhere a straitjacket and padded cell are waiting.

The cults of Jim Jones, David Koresh, Lyndon LaRouche, Sun Myung Moon, Joseph Rutherford and Marshall Applewhite all came to an end and someday the Cult of Donald Trump will come to an end as well. Congressional Republicans who have sold their soul to their orange-skinned cult leader refuse to look that far ahead. They worship Trump now. They defend Trump now. They see him as perfect and they ensure he remains above the law. God help us.
Analysis: Democrats will try to make Republicans pay the price in Trump trial
