Letter from John Jones of Canyon Country in today's Los Angeles Times:
"Elections here are guided by the principle of one person, one vote. The candidate who gets the most votes is the winner – except for the President. The electoral college was contrived as one way to get the small states to ratify the Constitution. Those states were afraid of being overshadowed by the larger ones. Today, Presidential elections should be determined by people, not states. It shouldn't matter where you live; it should only matter that you vote. Many democracies that came after the United States studied our Constitution and adopted much of it for their own governments – but not the electoral college. It simply makes no sense, so they go by one person, one vote. We should too."
Amen! Five Presidents who lost the popular vote is five too many!

King Donald the First and Vladimir Putin are BFFs. Russians helped get Trump elected in 2016. Now that he is a King, they want to ensure he gets re-elected. King Donald will gladly accept any help Russia can give him. Он заслуживает импичмента и удалены от должности.
Lawmakers were briefed that Russia is looking to help Trump win in 2020
CNN, Feb 20 2020 6:06 PM ET
The intelligence community's top election security official delivered a briefing to lawmakers last week warning them that the intelligence community believes Russia is already taking steps to interfere in the 2020 election with the goal of helping President Donald Trump win, three sources familiar with the matter tell CNN. The briefing, led by election security official Shelby Pierson, addressed the overall picture of Russia's efforts, including hacking, weaponizing social media and attacks on election infrastructure, one of the sources said. The briefers said Russia also hopes to raise questions about the integrity of the elections process. After the briefing, Trump became upset with outgoing acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire, a source familiar with the matter told CNN. Trump was concerned the Democrats present would use the briefing against him.

Reporting tonight on King Donald's reaction to last week's intelligence briefing by Shelby Pierson, CNN's Don Lemon accurately summed up where King Donald's loyalties lie: "Russia is once again interfering in our election and Trump seems to be angry at everyone except Vladimir Putin."

King Donald the First says global warming is a hoax. King Donald said the Mueller report was a hoax. King Donald said his impeachment was a hoax. King Donald said Russian election meddling was a hoax. Today the orange-skinned parrot is squawking again: "Hoax! Hoax! Hoax! Обман! Обман! Обман!"

"Russia tried to interfere in 2016. They tried to interfere in 2018. And they're trying to interfere in 2020." So says Matthew Whitaker, who served as acting Attorney General from November 7, 2018 to February 14, 2019. He was appointed by King Donald the First after Jeff Sessions resigned at King Donald's request. Republicans in Congress, all of whom have sold their souls to King Donald, refuse to believe Russia is interfering in our 2020 election. "Trump has been tough on Russia," they insist. Yeah, right. King Donald, Vladimir Putin's BFF, refuses to believe the incontrovertible findings of our nation's intelligence agencies that Russia interfered in 2016 and he continues to parrot Russia's false narrative that Ukraine is in possession of a DNC server and it was Ukraine, not Russia, that meddled in our election. "Putin said Russia didn't meddle and I believe him." Uh-huh. Он заслуживает импичмента и удалены от должности.

Vain, pompous, egotistical, narcissistic, power-mad, self-serving, self-worshipping King Donald the First thinks everything is about him. Thus, he's worried about the coronavirus – but only because he fears thousands of Americans could become infected and then the economy would slow down and that would hurt his re-election chances. Yes, everything is about King Donald. Everything.

Bloomberg is paying hundreds of people $2,500 a month to create new accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and post Bloomberg-for-President messages, images and links, all approved by his campaign, of course. Twitter, for one, does not allow that. Obviously, when a candidate is worth $62 billion, he can afford to meddle in his own campaign.

With a little more than 50% of the Nevada Democratic caucus votes counted, Sanders has 47%, Biden has 19% and Buttigieg has 15%. (The Donald Trump party, formerly known as the Republican party, canceled its caucus because they all know King Donald the First reigns supreme.) My advice, Bernie: Quit pushing "Medicare for all" and quit calling yourself a "Democratic socialist."

Moderate Democrats are fearful that if Bernie Sanders is the nominee, King Donald's re-election will be a certainty. Joe Biden can easily defeat King Donald but first he has to win the nomination. Biden pretty much has to win all the primaries that take place on March 3: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont and Virginia.

King Donald the First has a galaxy-sized ego and believes he is solely responsible for gains in the Dow, NASDAQ, S&P and Russell 3000. "If I don't win, you're going to see a crash like you've never seen before," declares King Donald, who obviously knows nothing about the Wall Street Crash of September-October 1929 which led to the Great Depression. Of course even if he did know, he would still make the same egocentric prediction. Sad!

Letter from Paul Ekstrom of Carpinteria in today's Los Angeles Times:
"I think the most effective step in protecting the integrity of our elections is to have the popular vote determine the winner. The electoral college is easily manipulated by special interests both domestic and foreign. Key electoral votes can easily tip the scale without representing the majority of voters. It is time to give all Americans a voice in who is elected."
Amen!

Los Angeles Times columnist Robin Abcarian refuses to accept the dire predictions that if Bernie Sanders is the Democratic nominee, Trump will be re-elected and Democrats will lose control of the House. After all, Sanders is doing well in the polls and primaries and Trump is the most unpopular President in history. Moderate and centrist democrats are horrified by Sanders calling himself a democratic socialist but most Americans support his proposals of Medicare for all and tuition-free public colleges – and they have no objections to Medicare and Social Security, which are socialist programs.
Bernie Sanders isn’t going to destroy the Democratic Party. He just might save it.
