The investigation that Trump keeps calling a "witch hunt" is getting closer and closer to the Witch-In-Chief.
Mueller believes Manafort fed information to Russian with intel ties
CNN, Jan 8 2019 3:04 PM ET
Special counsel Robert Mueller believes Paul Manafort was sharing polling data and working on a Ukraine peace plan with his close Russian-government-linked associate, Konstantin Kilimnik, while he led the Trump campaign, according to parts of a court filing that were meant to be redacted by Manafort's legal team today but were released publicly.
The Ukraine peace plan likely would have dealt with Russian intervention in the region. At around the same time, Russian government operatives were allegedly hacking Democratic computers to help Trump and orchestrating a social media propaganda scheme to sway voters against Trump's electoral opponents.
The revelations come in Manafort's written response to accusations that Manafort lied to Mueller's team during cooperation interviews. Those portions had been redacted given Mueller's sensitivities toward ongoing investigations, Manafort's lawyers said, but the redactions were able to be read in the document filed with the federal court online.

Criminal charges have been filed against Natalia Veselnitskaya, the Russian lawyer who met with Jared Kushner and Donald Trump Jr. at Trump Tower. She's the woman who reportedly had "dirt" on Hillary Clinton -- but don't forget, "There is no collusion. None." Donald Trump says so.

Trump is hoping to invoke his "executive privilege" to prevent the findings of the Mueller investigation from being made public. If, as Trump keeps insisting, there was "no collusion," then what is he afraid of?

In 2016, Trump's campaign manager Paul Manafort shared polling data with Konstantin Kilimnik, an associate with ties to Russian intelligence. Manafort pleaded guilty in September to 12 counts of bank fraud and tax evasion -- he had been convicted on eight other counts in August -- and has been cooperating with Robert Mueller's team of investigators. Today we learn Mueller met with Trump pollster Tony Fabrizio (which sounds like a character on The Sopranos), who worked with Manafort in Ukraine and knows all about the Trump campaign and Manafort's political ties to Russia. But there is no collusion -- Trump says so.

Report: FBI probed whether Trump secretly worked for Russia
The Associated Press, Jan 11 2019 9:46 PM ET
The New York Times reported today that law enforcement officials became so concerned by President Donald Trump's behavior in the days after he fired FBI Director James Comey that they began investigating whether he had been working for Russia against US interests. The report cites unnamed former law enforcement officials and others familiar with the investigation. Special counsel Robert Mueller took over the investigation when he was appointed soon after Comey's firing. The Times says it's unclear whether Mueller is still pursuing it.

Trump has met with Putin on five occasions and there are no detailed records on those meetings, not even in classified files. Russian trolls, directed by Putin, meddled in our 2016 election by creating thousands of fake accounts on social media and spreading Pro-Trump and anti-Clinton propaganda. And during the campaign, Trump was negotiating to build a Trump Tower in Moscow and promising to let Putin live in the penthouse suite for free. Those are things we now know about -- and there are many more Trump-Putin connections we don't know about. What is Trump hiding?

When Trump held meetings with Putin, he made sure there were no recordings or transcripts of the conversations and he swore the interpreters to secrecy. Trump may have made promises or backroom deals and he may have shared national security secrets. Putin may have damaging information about Trump and is blackmailing him. Someday we will find out.
Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward were the Washington Post journalists whose investigative reporting of Richard Nixon's attempts to cover up the 1972 break-in at DNC Headquarters at the Watergate office complex led to Nixon's resignation as President. In discussing those Trump-Putin meetings with CNN, Bernstein said Trump has become "a witting, unwitting or half-witting pawn of Putin." Here is the video:

The Democratic Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee sent out this tweet -- but don't forget, there has never been any collusion with Russia. Trump says so.
Eliot Engel
@RepEliotEngel
Every time Trump meets with Putin, the country is told nothing. America deserves the truth and the Foreign Affairs Committee will seek to get to the bottom of it. We will be holding hearings on the mysteries surrounding Trump's bizarre relationship with Putin and his cronies and how those dark dealings affect our national security.
