Ernie Isley, Marvin Isley and brother-in-law Chris Jasper were members of the Isley Brothers from 1973 to 1984. Among the group's hits during that time are That Lady, Fight The Power, For The Love Of You, Harvest For The World, I Wanna Be With You and Between The Sheets. Ernie, Chris and Marvin formed Isley-Jasper-Isley in 1984. Their biggest hit, Caravan Of Love, went to number one on the R&B chart and #51 on the Hot 100 in November 1985.

The New York Dolls were together from 1971 to 1976 and released two albums. In 2004, Johansen and original guitarist Sylvain Mizrahi formed a new Dolls group which released three albums before breaking up in 2011. Among the Dolls' best-known songs are Trash, Jet Boy, Subway Train, Teenage News, Looking For A Kiss, Personality Crisis and a remake of the Jayhawks' 1956 hit Stranded In The Jungle. Johansen, under the name Buster Poindexter, had a #45 hit in February 1988 with Hot Hot Hot.
