Singer/guitarist Mike Pinera co-founded Blues Image in 1966 in Tampa and co-wrote their July 1970 #4 hit Ride Captain Ride. Pinera was a member of Iron Butterfly, 1970-72 and 1978-79. In the mid-1970s he played with three different bands: Ramatam, the New Cactus Band and Thee Image.
