COVID-19 has now killed more than 724,000 people in the United States. That includes more than 69,000 in California, 66,000 in Texas, 56,000 in New York and 55,000 in Florida. I like this letter from John Kluge of North Hollywood in today's Los Angeles Times:
"In my lifetime I have witnessed two deadly plagues: HIV/AIDS, which killed tens of thousands of gay men in the United States in the 1980s and '90s, and COVID-19, which has killed more than 700,000 people in the U.S. Spreading disease was criminalized for only one of these pandemics. In many states, conservatives made it a crime to knowingly infect another person with HIV. Now, many conservatives are cheering people's 'freedom' to spread COVID-19."
The COVID-19 death toll in the United States has surpassed 748,000.
