If you Jailbreak your iPhone you can add a free application that shuttles the iPhone's 3G internet signal to your computer via the cable. So you have internet on your computer so long as it is connected. PLUS all the other functions on the phone work while your using it for computer internet, such as phone, texting, etc.
GREAT app! I have it and have used it when the router broke in my apartment. It works really well and give pretty decent speeds to you computer.
So you can have free computer internet anywhere you have an cell phone signal.

I think it can also send the signal to your computer thru your home router, but I've never done that.

It's called PDANet. Google it.

Man - I was looking at your charts Bill, and couldn't figure out why they looked so strange to me... log scale. Always pays to look at both... I always forget that. It's like AAPL. Any of you guys trade that? On the weekly its hitting trendline resistance - but its more pronounced on the log scale - which is what most use for weekly, but anyone trading intermediate term and is ignoring looking at longer term charts, are seeing a bounce off the 50 day. I constantly need to remind myself to look at monthly and weekly charts - and those I feel are always better at showing you support and resistance... Lot of work huh? I need to trade far less positions.

I just googled PDANet myself and it appears they have a version for the Blackberry as well. Perhaps there is a version for all smartphones??

Edit: HAHA there IS a version for all smartphones. One for iPhone, Blackberry, Palm, Windows Mobile, and even Android (Google G1 phone).

Preliminary top-line results of second Phase III study show highly significant decreases in pain and fatigue and improved daily function in fibromyalgia patients and confirm results from the first Phase III study

PALO ALTO, Calif., and BRUSSELS, June 24, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- press release, regulated information -- Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: JAZZ) and UCB (Euronext Brussels: UCB) announced today positive preliminary top-line results from the second of two Phase III clinical trials of sodium oxybate (JZP-6) for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Confirming the positive results from the first Phase III study, this international, placebo-controlled trial of sodium oxybate to treat fibromyalgia achieved its key endpoints. As in the first randomized, double-blind fibromyalgia study, sodium oxybate significantly decreased pain and fatigue and improved daily function and patient global impression of change. Sodium oxybate has not been evaluated by regulators for the treatment of fibromyalgia and is not approved for this use.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 8300 on 6/24/09, as the stock market was mixed due to a lack luster Federal Reserve report and a powerful earnings report out of Oracle Inc ( NASDAQ:ORCL) which rallied the technology sector. The Dow Jones Futures were up nicely this morning and shot up even more on a better then expected durable goods report. Durable Good Orders were up 1.8% vs ( -0.90%) expected. The Dow Jones was up almost 100 at one point but then fell 150 points after the Federal Reserve released their statement. Before the FOMC statement, Warren Buffett told CNBC viewers that he doesn't see these so called green shoots everyone is talking about. The Dow Jones continues to hold key the support level of 8250 but still trades below the 50 day moving average. Keep an eye on the initial jobless claims number due out at 8:30am EST, Thursday. Wall Street expects 608,000 jobless claims. A break under 600,000 would be a positive sign. Check out some of the events I will be watching for Thursday.

Stocks to Watch - 6/25/09 - Stock Market Ideas

Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ)
Daily Finan. Bull 3X Shs(ETF)(FAS) - FAS rallied back with the stock market on Wednesday, hitting up against the $8.80 resistance level. Pullbacks to the $8.60 area have been bought heavily since breaking back up through that level. FAS will have some resistance between $9.00-$9.20 but after that there really isn't anything until about $9.80-$10. If FAS gets back to $10 anytime soon, I will be buying FAZ stock. So the plan? Started buying into FAS below $8.20, start buying FAZ when FAS gets near $10.

Citigroup Inc (C:NYSE) - Citigroup stock continues to perform strong after hitting $2.90 Tuesday and then bouncing back over $3. Citigroup now has resistance at $3.15, $3.22, and $3.29....a close above these levels would be bullish and you could probably see a run back into the $3.50's. A break below $2.90 would be very bearish and I would look for $2.60-$2.80.

Bank of America Corp ( BAC ) - Bank of America Corporation continues to be strong over $12 per share. I see no reason to sell BAC stock unless it breaks back below $12 again.

Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan (NYSE: POT) - Potash traded up to $95.35 on Wednesday but had serious trouble in the $94's. I think POT is a strong buy below $90.

MTM Technologies Inc. (MTMC) - Shares of MTMC were up almost 300% after the company received a big order from the US Dept of Navy. MTMC was then halted for news pending at 1:45pm EST of Wednesday. Keep an eye on this situation.

Spherix Inc. (SPEX) - Spherix Announces Positive Phase 2 Study Results - SPEX stock up 125% - worth watching Thursday

Hemispherx Biopharma, Inc. (HEB) - Still waiting on an FDA decision out of HEB for CFS drug Ampligen - HEB traded back above $2 for some of the day on Wednesday. Resistance - $2.10, Support - $1.50

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (CTIC) - CTIC right now is dead money, not going up much, not going down much. I am waiting to get back in CTIC stock when the volume comes back. I will be looking for good news, high pre market volume, the stock higher, and daily volume to be above 50 million. I also want to buy on a break above $1.85...that is the magic number right now.

SpongeTech Delivery Systems, Inc. (SPNG.OB) - Caution, Caution - SPNG is no longer going up on good news. The volume is dying down as well. A break below $0.13 would be bearish going forward. Be careful out there! If the volume comes back and SPNG breaks up through $0.18, I will be a buyer.

Economic Progress: It's been pretty flat since we last talked in May, in terms of the Economy coming back, it takes awhile. Job's are the most important problem we need to solve right now.

Green Shoots - We're not seeing " green shoots ", industrial demand is still down, these green shoots haven't happened yet lol. ( Warren also said he just had eye surgery and he still can't see them )

President Obama: The Obama administration is doing things, and it will take awhile for them to take effect

Ben Bernanke: I don't think you can do better then him, he should be re elected

Inflation/Deflation? I don't worry about deflation at all, we won't see it - We have taken action on fighting this economic war which raises the probability of very high inflation.

Wells Fargo WFC: I'm sure Wells Fargo wants to get out of TARP ASAP. Earnings power is huge no matter what. I just wish they wouldn't have taken the warrants that came with the tarp.

Apple ( AAPL ) - Steve Jobs: I think if I have any serious operation or medical condition coming up I would tell America. I would make full disclosure if I become ill.

Stock Market Prediction: I think its attractive over the next 10 years, equities will do better then fixed dollar investments.

Stock Market Rising on Durable Goods 6/24/09

The stock market is rising this morning, June 24, 2009, as the Durable Goods data came in much better then expected.

Wall Street expected the May 2009 Durable Goods figure to come in -0.90% but it actually came in +1.80%

Stock Market Futures are soaring with the Down Jones up 75 points as we head into the open today.

All eyes will be on the Federal Reserve ( FOMC ) decision which is expected at 2:15pm EST.

Drys stock has broken down technically with the 10 day moving average crossing the 50 day moving average. Drys is now trading at the stock offering price several months ago at $5.40. It seems as though everyone is watching Libor rates these days. Today's Libor Rates for 6/24/09, are: 1 Month Libor Rate - 0.311%. & 3 Month Libor Rate - 0.604%. The overnight Libor rate is 0.276%. As you can see, Libor Rates have changed today, June 24, 2009. All three libor rates went down today.

I don't have the phone yet, but now thinking about it, funny, my work requires a lot of unix, so OS X was a treat, since we could then communicate via office products to those that can only receive them, and I didn't have to do the dual boot - but I found I never listened to my ipod cause I'm tired of my CD's no matter what the venue, so didn't get the phone. But, after watching my buddies play with them, I'm itching to get one.

btw - if any of you use a mac and the terminal/command line (should work for linux too, just may have to call a different version of awk), I've written some scripts to do things like sort lists of tickers - say from IBD screens - to get into stockcharts.com, made a script to calculate profit and loss, risk/reward that's so much faster to use than a calculator or online calculator.. so if you want, I can copy and paste them in here. If the iPhone has a terminal then you could use it on your phone....

ie. input:

>rr2 0.39 0.60 0.34 1000

(where rr2 is the program name, 0.39 is your entry, 0.60 is your target, 0.34 is your stop loss, and 1000 is the dollar amount you are investing) - (can you guys guess the stock, haha?)

output:

gain 53.8462%
gain $524.462
exit amount $1524.46

loss -12.8205%
loss $-142.205
exit amount $857.795

reward/risk 3.68806

( I have it set up to automatically do $7 commissions - but the script can be edited - I need to make a version that does the extra charge I get for stocks under a buck)

anyway, I"ll share them.

GREAT app! I have it and have used it when the router broke in my apartment. It works really well and give pretty decent speeds to you computer.
So you can have free computer internet anywhere you have an cell phone signal.

I think it can also send the signal to your computer thru your home router, but I've never done that.

Looks like a great list of links - is this where you get some of your info? - dumb question - you obviously posted it. Thanks for sharing, I'll try to pop up some more of my fave free ones later. But again, they mostly deal with the general market and typical growth stocks, I'm not really a penny guy, its just fun hanging around this board, and trying to get a few zero cost average stocks is never a bad thing.
