While President, Donald Trump believed the FBI, the Attorney General and the Department of Justice existed not to serve the American people but to serve him. He apparently still believes that – and he's directing his rage at federal workers who are merely upholding the law. "How dare they oppose me! Off with their heads!"

Trump asked for a "special master" to oversee the Justice Department's review of the classified documents removed from Mar-a-Lago, documents which shouldn't have even been at Mar-a-Lago. On September 1, Florida district court judge Aileen Mercedes Cannon will hold a hearing to determine if Trump's request will be granted. By the way, Cannon was nominated by Trump and confirmed by the Senate in 2020.
Justice Department says Trump's request for special master would impede criminal probe
USA TODAY, Aug 30 2022
Justice Department officials told a federal judge late today that the appointment of a special master to oversee a review of documents seized from former President Donald Trump’s Florida estate earlier this month was "unnecessary" and would impede the government's investigation into Trump's handling of classified documents, along with an ongoing national security risk assessment.
In a lengthy rejoinder to Trump’s request for an independent screener, prosecutors also refuted claims that the former President had cooperated with authorities in the months leading to the unprecedented August 8 search. Justice officials asserted that Trump's lawyers prohibited investigators in June from viewing the contents of boxes inside a storage room "to confirm that no documents with classification markings remained." Two months later, FBI agents descended on the property where they discovered 11 sets of classified documents among the more than 20 boxes removed from the property.

The Department of Justice filed a 36-page brief detailing the classified documents taken from Mar-a-Lago on August 8. It included a photograph – taken at Mar-a-Lago – showing many of the documents. During a June 3 visit to Mar-a-Lago by the FBI and DOJ officials, Trump's attorneys said all the classified documents had been returned and there are "no other records stored in any private office space or other location at the premises." Of course they were lying.

Trump had dozens of empty folders. They match his head.
Trump having 48 empty 'classified' folders at Mar-a-Lago raises suspicion
Newsweek, Sep 2 2022 12:49 PM EDT
Some legal experts have expressed suspicion over the empty folders with classified markings in the newly unsealed inventory list showing what FBI agents seized during their search of former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago home last month. The list of items showed that 48 empty folders described as having "classified" banners were recovered in the raid. A Newsweek count found that the list included. Dozens of empty folders labeled "Return to Staff Secretary/Military Aide" were also listed in the inventory.
Former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner tweeted about the inventory list today, writing that the former President "didn't pack up EMPTY folders to take with him to Florida. Things just went from bad to worse to unfathomably dangerous." Former federal prosecutor Andrew Weissmann tweeted that the empty classified folders "are of most concern. Where are the contents? Trump has not addressed that at all in all his bluster and obfuscation. What were you doing with these?"

As we learned from their votes in two impeachments of Donald Trump, Retrumplicans believe Trump is above the law. A pro-trump judge appointed by Donald Trump issued a pro-Trump ruling that hinders a criminal investigation of Trump. Her definition of "justice" is "anything that works in Trump's favor." DOJ appeals decision to order special master to review evidence seized in Mar-a-Lago search
CNN, Sep 8 2022 3:54 PM ET
The Justice Department is appealing a court-ordered special master review of the materials seized by the FBI at former President Donald Trump's Florida home. The Justice Department had vigorously opposed the appointment of a special master, which is a third-party attorney tasked with reviewing evidence and filtering out privileged documents. The department argued to US District Judge Aileen Cannon the independent review wasn't necessary, given the internal DOJ filter practices that had been used in the search. Prosecutors argued it would impede both the criminal investigation into the handling of documents from Trump's White House and national security risk analysis being conducted by the intelligence community.
In her Monday order granting Trump's request for the special master, Cannon halted any use of the seized materials for the DOJ's criminal investigation. She said, however, that the intelligence community's assessment could continue.

Trump used to claim to be for "law and order." He was lying. He loves violence – as long as it's carried out by his blindly loyal supporters who believe his lies about "witch hunts" and "widespread voter fraud" and a "stolen election." Trump’s increasing tirade against FBI and DOJ endangering lives of officials
The Guardian, Sep 11 2022
Donald Trump’s non-stop drive to paint the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago to recover classified documents as a political witch hunt is drawing rebukes from ex-Justice Department and FBI officials who warn such attacks can spur violence and pose a real threat to the physical safety of law enforcement. The unrelenting attacks by Trump and loyalists such as House minority leader Kevin McCarthy, Senator Lindsey Graham, Steve Bannon and false conspiracy theorist Alex Jones against law enforcement have continued despite strong evidence that Trump kept hundreds of classified documents illegally.
"I have been dealing with law enforcement and the criminal justice system for close to 40 years. I have never seen the type or virulence of attacks being made every day against the FBI, DOJ lawyers and judges," former Justice Department inspector general Michael Bromwich told The Guardian. "It’s a chorus led by Trump but it includes elected officials at every level. It is dangerous and unacceptable."

Trump insists he "declassified" all the classified documents that he took to Mar-a-Lago. Of course that is a lie. He also insists he maintains "absolute right of access" to all Presidential records, including those that are classified or top-secret. That, too, is false. And he insists Mar-a-Lago is "secure." Another lie.
