The religio-conservative goals of the past five decades-plus are now being facilitated by Trump in the home stretch. Most of the tactics have been visible for some time. Those who loathe the country as it now is and want it destroyed are proud of the lies and hate they spew daily. They excuse illegality, treason and psychopathy without embarrassment or concern of how depraved they are.
There have been similar actions throughout history and we can and should learn from them.

Research always shows that the reasons most people use to vote a certain way are superficial, emotional and uninformed. This time many used (among others) the economy and inflation. Neither are current valid concerns but constant disinformation did its job. Listening to a chronic liar is way easier than reading authoritative sources. Oh, and looking at all the issues objectively to assure you understand the big picture not just your own prejudgements.
A CEO was reported to have told his employees that there would be no bonus this year because expected tariffs required stockpiling materials to avoid higher future costs. Seems workers who voted for Trump believed, as they were told, that foreign countries would pay tariffs and that would be a good thing. No, US companies would pay the higher prices that tariffs put on the goods they buy.
Then there are the millions of stupid, vicious haters that enjoy voting their depravity without realizing it will come for them eventually, too. This country will now likely become unlivable in some ways for everyone.

The recent election has, once again, underscored how common human stupidity is.
An older Latina Trump voter admitting she wouldn't mind if many of her relatives who have been here for 10-20 years were deported because they came here undocumented.
Trump voters wanting tariffs without knowing what they are and how they would hurt them personally.
Black MAGA members who are now being racially harassed by their racist fellow MAGA members.
Female Trump voters who didn't know that ending all abortions and contraceptives was going to be a goal of MAGA.
Family members who voted for Trump, now gloating and provoking others in their family who did not vote for Trump. Divorces and ended relationships of all types are now growing.
It's only the beginning of the significant damage all will face in some way from this deranged election.
When a rapist, chronic liar, conman, grifter and diagnosed psychopath has support from over 70 million, there is no longer any reason to hide the fact that no more than a small number of humans have any claim to more than a teaspoon of clear thinking abilities.

Humans are susceptible to aberrational behavior. Being interested in or strongly supportive of twisted individuals and their actions is, unfortunately, very common. Grotesque acts are easily accepted as "entertaining" and harmless.
Among the relative few who know exactly what is going on now, this is clearly viewed as the most dangerous time in modern American history.

There has never been any reason to view Trump with benign amusement. His vicious nature coupled with a pathological narcissism and obsessive need to lie were always obvious to those who were not prone to credulity.
At this moment there are activities by the administration to significantly erode every last vestige of a democratic country. It is beyond frightening.
