i think it has something to do with getting permission to try out real world use of newer generation siri portable in-vehicle receiver units which transmit a signal to the vehicle's FM frequency spectrum - usually in the low end numbers 88.1 through 88.7 MHZ; these are for users who buy the unit and plug it into the vehicle's cigarette lighter power source, and there's no direct connection to the vehicle's existing FM radio; wasn't there a problem in the past dealing with the transmitters inside the portable siri/xm receivers interfering with other nearby vehicle's FM reception?...
