US federal parks, buildings will not require masks for vaccinated
US News & World Report, May 14 2021 1:20 PM
New guidance from the US Centers for Disease Control & Prevention released this week means that fully vaccinated staff, contractors and visitors no longer need masks in federal buildings or on federal lands. The shift could affect hundreds of millions of visitors who go to US national parks every year, from California's redwood forest to the seacoast in Acadia, Maine.
The change follows an official recommendation on Thursday by the CDC that fully vaccinated people could go mask-less indoors in most places, a significant shift toward normalcy for the United States, where the pandemic has killed more than half a million people.

Nancy Pelosi wants Representatives to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or else wear a mask in the House chamber. In Nazi Germany, Jews were required to wear a yellow star. The British Library website says the star "was intended to humiliate Jews and to mark them out for segregation and discrimination. The policy also made it easier to identify Jews for deportation to camps." Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Retrumplican who believes The Big Lie that Donald Trump won the 2020 Presidential election, compares the mask requirement to the yellow stars. Liz Cheney condemned Greene's comparison as "evil lunacy."

The hosts at Fox News Channel, a.k.a. the Trump Cheerleading Channel, resent the Biden Administration urging Americans to get COVID-19 vaccinations. Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham and other hosts keep insisting the vaccinations are "unnecessary" or "dangerous." On July 8, Tucker Carlson falsely declared that anyone who doesn't get the vaccine will "wind up on a government list." On July 12, Jeanine Pirro declared that Biden's vaccination goals are ultimately "about confiscating your guns." Huh?
We now have the Delta Variant of the coronavirus. It is much deadlier and has spread to all 50 states. Dean Obeidallah, a SiriusXM talk show host and columnist for The Daily Beast, explains why Fox News hosts are opposed to vaccinations: "They think hurting the Biden administration's efforts to vaccinate people will help Republicans win in the 2022 midterm – and maybe even help Donald Trump if he runs in 2024." This is further proof that the "win-at-all-costs" Retrumplicans have no shame. So what if hundreds of thousands of unvaccinated people die?

Ron DeSantis, Florida's Retrumplican Governor, is opposed to mask mandates and he's hawking T-shirts and beer koozies that say "Don't Fauci my Florida. Keep Florida free." The reference is to Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute Of Allergy & Infectious Diseases and the chief medical advisor to the President. There is also a beverage cooler that says, "How the hell am I going to be able to drink a beer with a mask on?” The question is a quote from DeSantis. Around 20% of new COVID-19 cases are in Florida – and Florida's COVID-19 death rate is almost four times the national average. Thank you, Ron DeSantis!

For the past week, Florida has averaged 6,500 new cases of COVID-19 per day. Florida accounts for 20% of the nation's new COVID-19 cases. Retrumplican Governor Ron DeSantis is refusing to call for any lockdowns or mask mandates. DeSantis, who is not a doctor, insists the current spike in COVID cases is "seasonal." He says Florida will have a "higher prevalence for the rest of July, probably into August, and then it goes back." CNN senior writer and analyst Harry Enten explains how vaccination rates in the United States are affected by a "partisan gap":
