In laymans terms...GIVE LOANS TO PEOPLE WHO HAD NO BUSINESS EVER GETTING A LOAN.
Was it Bill Clintons idea to reform welfare, or was it Newt Gingrich's? It wa Newt's vision, and wih the first Rep majority in nearly 50 yrs, the Reps reformed welfare, lowered taxes, and balanced the budget. To Clinton's credit, after numerous polls showed the American people overwhelmingly favored these bills, Clinton then regretably signed all these bills into law. In doing so, he pissed off a good deal of his own party in the process. The 90's unleashed America with true Conservative Reps in the Senate and in Congress.
The new millenia gave us GW, and 911. GW started off his tenoir with a conservative bang by lowering taxes. He then kept us all safe by not allowing one attack on our soil to preceed after 911. Here's where I differ greatly from someone like you Trip, I am able to call a spade a spade, regardless of my party loyalties...
After 911, the ONCE Conservative Reps began to spend like drunken sailors. Bush misplaced his veto-pen and allowed all the spending to take place. No words of balancing the budget ever passed the lips of the Reps or GW. Spend was the order of the day.GW and some Reps knew of the inevitable and pending Housing Crisis that was about to rear its ugly head in full force. Yet they spoke softly and gave us a warning in a whispe-tone, and in the end allowed it to happen...even though Clinton, Barney Frank, Mr Raines, and Sen Chris Dood all spearheaded the idea of loaning money top people who could NEVER pay it back.
The party I once admired, had fallen of the turnup truck, and became liberal type out of control spenders like the Dems. Rge Re;s didn't stop there, they went ahead and nominated a LIBERAL Rep by the name of John McCain to run for President.
Both partys have their demons. Unlike you liberals, I'm able to TRUTHFULLY critique all areas of govt, and certainly not the stereo-typical Dem vs Rep crap. The Rep Party began to leave me when Newt stepped down. Until they realize they need to stand for something, such as their roots of heritage, and actually preach conservatism and fiscal responsibility, they will stay the minority party. All areas of our government are corrupt and under seige. Until Americans start to demand the truth in politics, things won't change for the better any time soon.
I take a fact as a fact. Whereas Liberals drink the kool-aid and therfore their eyes are shut to the truth.
