That is true but the fact remains. One has to pick his material a little better, otherwise he starts to look like a fool. I have no problem with what you did in the fact you got your idea from a blog or blogs. The problem was the article you wrote was filled with conjecture (the BK) and total falacies (the loss of 2 million subs) based on what, bad math skills and lack of information. Next time try to remember the gross retail adds.


P.S. Finally as a bloger, I dont think most would give a rats ass about credibility. As a journalist you put your credibility on the line with every article you write. You just lost alot of it with that article.

John, if I look from the broader perspective I do not have any doubt about Mel except he does not communicate and care much about the common holders.

As far as communication is concerned everyone knows that so many dogs were barking about MERGER and BK. Mel's dog does not bark but only bites. I like it.

I hope now that his next mission is to make SIRI FCF positive in 2009 and he will prove it.

Remember that two top paid subs co joining hands together and competitors have been knocked out. Blue dog will be going ahead without any fear.

If it happens before RS then any idea about the positive sentiment and the PPS?

Here is something you must understand. You walk a very thin line...your last line in your post says it all:

Look, this line is very disturbing if you are going to be kicking out actual articles that hit the wires. So given your own self-analysis, you are not exactly credible. When you are in a position of influencing the masses, it cna NEVER be good enough to "not be great at something but do your best." It is beholden upon you to be ACCURATE or nothing at all. Does that sink in??? If you admit to not not doing great fundamental analysis, you have no business EVER doing it in an article. On a blog with a IMHO tag, no sweat. I mean, Brandon, I was just over at your SA version of your article and some poor guy wrote that he lost sleep and was worried sick because of your article. Does this resonate with you??? You may not have much pull with MM's and experienced traders but the general investing public is all over you man. Given innacurate info that you author, you could cause some real harm to either someone's finances OR their own well-being. This is not a joke. What you should have done Thursday, was double check with us in this forum and gathered more opinions before you pulled your trigger on that erroneous article. Further, if you are going to generalize and write based on your opinion, you should disclaim all your articles with "this is my opinion only." Just saying Long Siri, means nothing to anybody. Brandon, you have to remember. Not everyone out there is like some of us here. We know (and continue to learn) how to decipher the junk. We are out in the community boards ripping authors for their bs articles. Most don't understand the game Brandon. They read what you wrote Thursday and could go jump off a ledge because of it if they were invested in SIRI to the teeth. You've got to realize your responsibility here. And as said, there is one perfectly easy way for you to still pump out your articles and remain humble (and responsible). It is by adding at the bottom (similar to what CNBC does with Clown Cramer): THESE ARE SOLELY MY OPINIONS AND MAY OR MAY NOT BE ACCURATE. Far Away, I would not count on it or even consider it. 2009 will not be FCF positive. Just a reminder, 2007 4th Q SIRI had 80 million FCF positive XMSR had none. You want to know why, because of CAPEX brought forward to the 4th Q like royalties and the big one, the last satellite they launched.

Letter to Mel Karmazen:

Mel. If your people DO read this blog for you and aprise you of its contents, I hope they will pass this on from me. As an invested SIRI shareholder I want to say thank you for making and allowing this deal wth John Malone and Liberty to happen and now consummate in it's entirety. You and your team have made us common holders sweat our *asses* off over the past 6 months (not to say you weren't doing the exact same thing because I suspect you were knowing how the market has now completely and utterly collapsed). We have questioned and continue to do so, your commitment to your shareholders, their financial safety and well-being most certainly We've felt thrown under the bus at times and our biggest complaint is lack of communication to us. But that is what it is and there is little we can do to make that change (unless you decide to do so). What's important now, is that you did the right thing and made this deal happen and prevented this whole entire thing from imploding right before our eyes. No shareholder wanted to see the ugliness of what BK would have brought--as I know you did not either. You have to understand that though people invest in SiriusXM on their own volition and desire, they in turn wind up being at risk for significant financial loss--which can fester into many other areas of life. Some people, who do not possess the similar wealth and social stature as you, have lost a great deal here during this transition of the company and you must remember that. But I think in your decision to continue on with the quest of realizing this new company's potentials, you did consider that...and for which again, we thank you. :sunny:

sl62, well stated! If Mel has ANY consideration for the SHs he must throw us a bone once in a while and let us in on what he's thinking, and his vision for SIRI's future. Maybe the March 17 CC will give us something more to chew on, but something like monthly communiques to investors would increase the communication that has been sorely lacking to date.

If Brandon were "just doing the world a favor and SiriusXM investors" you would allow John or Homer to publish an article for you. That would endow you to me and others as a "hero" for the common stockholder. I think its something you should seriously consider, to allow the healing to be complete. You admittingly use our information, now step up and let that "common" voice be heard. Im sure John or Homer would right a WONDERFUL article full of facts and solid analysis. I just think even though we've been through some sh*t with Mel, in the end he has done us justice. I could care less if he sold 40% of the company to Malone. In truth, he sold it to a winner and I like having winners in controlling and near-controlling interests in a company in which I am invested. Mel also proved his comitment to making this new company work. He could have just dumped it off to Ergen. I'm glad he didn't. I much happier now having close ties with Liberty and DTV for whaterver synergies may be realized in the future. Just another door inside of which may offer unexpected fruit. Ergen buying debt to "force" something is no way you want a partner. And I further don't believe we wanted to be partners more than he wanted to try to dismantle the company for parts. Poor communication has always been my main problem with Mel and is what forced me to sell my position the first time around @ .40. Otherwise, he's always been a winner in my book. Now, he has made good on his promise to navigate this new company through tough waters. He has my support as he did in the beginning. He could have done the ultimate shareholder genocide right here and he didn't. For that, I tip my hat...

He wouldnt be doing a 360, because he wouldnt be writing it. He would just be allowing "one of his muses" access to a MSM outlet that will allow the common stockholder a voice. Redemption for Brandon, and a positive for the company, and its stockholders. Win Win.

I think I speak for Charles and Tyler that we would welcome articles written by others. We claim no monopoly on knowledge. We often provide a forum for guest writers. If anyone wants to submit an article of their own, simply send it to one of us in a private message. We may edit it to some extent, but the writer would get final say as to whether they wanted it published.

I don't know much about the rest of you guys yet, but when it comes to fundamental analysis, Homer is a genius. I don't know if he's an accountant, but I take his word as gold. His knowledge is unparalleled when it comes to a balance sheet. Just look at this post he just put up on yahoo...

Relmor -- in fairness to Siriusbuzz and those who participate in the blog -- I had been approached a couple times to submit some opinions/articles to Siriusbuzz... but I have thusfar declined. Not out of a lack of respect for the site or those here, but moreso because I prefer to keep my anonymity and to avoid any possible conflict of interests with my real job.

New to the site and the room... been a Sirius investor since 2004... got in (unfortunately) at a high. Sweated for several years; in winter of 08, someone at work apprised me of Seeking Alpha and I started reading articles on the issue. Just before 2/17, I picked up more shares drastically reducing my cost per share (which based on comments I've been reading by some fantastic people in both SA and now here) is apparently a smart play.

That's my SIRI history in a nutshell. I am not a trader; I am not an analyst; I am some shlep who believes, for some oddball reason, in this company.

With that said, I've found the material in these rooms to be very insightful, and more importantly, educational.

I do have questions and hope they are received well from the people who dwell here in these forums.

First one is directed to Homer: why would pps over $40 be an issue? Aren't we all hoping for this issue to jump to the moon (or better yet the Sirius galaxy)???

Defending the Buzz ( A serious lesson on SIRIUS)

As I embark on this first time attempt to write an article, I feel it is my responsibility to provide fact based opinion, or in the least well researched and thought out guesses…..rather than a random, rabid , fabrication based on a conversation or plagiarization and cannibalization of another article out there.

If you follow SIRIUS Buzz or are a subscriber to XM or SIRIUS and are also a stockholder, then you know the pain I and many others have felt over the course of the past several years. To say it has been a dangerous journey up a steep and slippery slope is to understate the events we as shareholders have had to endure and dig through to get to the root of the situation. The crux of the problem is that many people who have bought and loved the service, also jumped into the Financial Markets and bought stock of the companies either, before or after the merger, with visions of the stock paying off in a big way at the end of their particular dream. That may well be the final intended act of this stock, but to date, this has been an educational exercise in futility and humility of immense proportions.

So many people have already lost so much with this company…..and as much as I feel for them, I also applaud those who have stuck it out. For as the old saying goes…nothing good comes easy, and there is a price to pay for everything. We are a front line example of that. There were several missteps along the way, most recently the merger and all its delays come to mind. Many of us watched helplessly, thinking as the stock price vanished……that some how it was a mistake…and it would all be fixed within a few months. This is an especially difficult thing to say for those who still don’t understand…..but there is no quick fix. Those of you who think this stock is going to magically return to pre merger prices, or even post merger prices of last year, are surely in a game you don’t belong in. The news of this past Friday that ensured SIRIUS/XM would live on ……at least through this year and most probably next for sure……still brings little indication of where the stock is headed….higher yes but how much. The recent collapse of the economy, has only put more un needed pressure on a struggle to survive from the death grip of debt that this company seems to always be in the grasp of.

Of course I can also say that if anything is true…it is that SIRIUS Buzz is a place where you will find passion, concern, intelligence and focus on something we all seem blinded by, and that is SIRIUS satellite radio and all its issues that ned fixing for survival. Friday was a step in the right direction, albeit one which was treaded softly so as not to get stuck yet again in a pit of debt hell. There appears to be smoother sailing on the immediate horizon, and we can only hope that the powers that be, have had the foresight to think over the horizon as they battled to make it out of the latest storm in tact.
