Not a single Republican voted in favor of the impeachment plan. Republicans – every one of them – put their party above their country. How shameful. Responding to the House vote, Emperor Trump tweeted – again! – that the investigation is "the greatest witch hunt in American history!" Funny, he said the same thing about the Mueller investigation.

The documents detail meetings and phone calls involving Trump, Giuliani, Pompeo and others and relate to Trump's quid-pro-quo offer and the dismissal of Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch. When Emperor Trump pressured Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden, little did he dream that he would wind up being investigated. Of course Trump is above the law, so that thought would never occur to him.

Allow me to translate what House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy said following the vote. When he declared, "We believe in the rule of law – but unfortunately, in Nancy’s House, we do not," what he really meant was: "We do not believe in the rule of law. We believe Emperor Trump should be able to say and do whatever he wants and never be held accountable. We value Trump, the Republican party and money, in that order. Our democracy, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the rule of law are unimportant."

Republicans allow Emperor Trump to say and do whatever he wants – and Trump allows Rudy Giuliani to say and do whatever he wants. Is this any way to run a government?

During the impeachment investigations of Andrew Johnson, Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton, witnesses honored subpoenas to testify. In the ongoing impeachment investigation of Donald Trump, the administration – which Trump claims is the most transparent in United States history – is ordering witnesses, even those who no longer work for the White House, to ignore subpoenas and refuse to testify. Trump is guilty of abuse of power, obstruction of an investigation and obstruction of justice – and Congressional Republicans, by their silence, are complicit.

"Okay, look, all the House Republicans are backing me in this witch hunt, okay? They wouldn't dare to do otherwise. They know I'd squash 'em like a bug, okay? Now I need all of you in the Senate to show me the same blindly loyal support and devotion, okay? I deserve it because I've done nothing wrong and I'm the greatest President who ever lived. Actually, I'm the greatest person who ever lived. Let me hear you say 'Heil, Trump!' What? No, Mitch, you don't have to kneel and kiss my ring – but it's fine with me if you want to."

"The President has done nothing wrong and the Democrats know it," declared Trump lapdog Stephamie Grisham today. She should have added, "I have to lie to protect Trump if I want to keep my job as press secretary." Trump campaign chairman Brad Parscale, same as Trump himself, continues to call the impeachment investigation "illegitimate." It isn't. Next year we likely will have an impeached President running for re-election – and the orange-skinned parrot will still be squawking, "Hoax! Scam! Lynching! Witch hunt! Awwrkkk!"

During World War II, President Franklin Roosevelt held "fireside chats" on radio so he could communicate with, and reassure, the American public. President Donald Trump does not communicate well unless he's reading somebody else's words off a teleprompter and he certainly is no good at offering reassurance. Now Trump wants to hold a "fireside chat"? Wow. This is an excerpt of an opinion piece by CNN editor-in-chief Chris Cillizza:
Donald Trump wants to read the Ukraine call transcript to the country. That's a terrible idea.
Chris Cillizza, CNN, Nov 1 2019 5:01 PM
In an interview with the Washington Examiner on Thursday, President Donald Trump floated an idea. "At some point, I'm going to sit down, perhaps as a fireside chat on live television, and I will read the transcript of the call, because people have to hear it," he said of his July 25 call with Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelensky. "When you read it, it's a straight call." That would be an incredibly bad idea. Why? Well, for several reasons, the biggest of which is this: The transcript is pretty damn close to a smoking gun.
In it, Trump makes clear the United States does a lot for Ukraine, that Ukraine hasn't reciprocated, asks Zelensky to look into Joe Biden and the former vice president's son, Hunter, and says he will put Zelensky in touch with Rudy Giuliani and Attorney General Bill Barr. While Trump doesn't specifically use the words "quid pro quo," the ask – and the context around it – seems pretty straightforward. We do a lot for you. You don't do that much for us. Now we have an opportunity for you to be helpful to us. So, do it.
Trump has never seemed to understand how dangerous the transcript is to him and his political future. Since he authorized its release, he has repeatedly pointed to it as evidence that his call with Zelensky was "perfect." But the transcript doesn't do what Trump seems to think it does. It, in fact, does the opposite of what Trump thinks it does – revealing a clear attempt to link the US's work for Ukraine to a reward for you know, for the effort. Don't believe me? Just look at how support for impeachment and removal of Trump has surged in the wake of the revelation about the original call and then subsequent release of the rough transcript. It also doesn't help Trump's case that his contention that the transcript is an "exact" replica of the conversation has turned out to be false, according to witnesses testifying under oath in front of the relevant committees. A fireside chat to read the Ukraine transcript is a disastrously bad idea. Even for Trump.

The witnesses are giving secondhand information and hearsay. False. The phone call transcript is complete and verbatim. False. Nancy Pelosi refuses to hold a vote. False. Republicans are being excluded from the inquiry. False. Republican Congressmen keep lying in an effort to defend and protect the Liar-In-Chief. Why do they continue to try to defend the indefensible?

Trump, his attorneys and his Republican lackeys in Congress keep whining that Trump is being denied "due process." No he isn't. For one thing, he hasn't been charged with a crime. Yet. And due process applies only if a person is being deprived of life, liberty or property. Trump is not being deprived of anything. Yet.

A White House lawyer moved the transcript of the Trump-Zelensky phone call – the call Trump keeps insisting was "perfect" – to a classified server so nobody could see it. Then he ordered the National Security Council's top Ukraine expert to not discuss the call with anyone. Can you say "cover-up"? I knew you could. House impeachment investigators want to talk with that lawyer next week.

Emperor Trump made a quid pro quo offer to Ukraine's President: Give us dirt on Joe Biden and we'll give you military aid and an invitation to the White House. A few Republican Senators are finally realizing they can't continue lying and saying there was no quid pro quo. However, they will insist the quid pro quo offer was not inappropriate and is not an impeachable offense. Yeah, they claim there's absolutely nothing wrong with a United States President holding back Congressionally-approved aid until a foreign country agrees to investigate his potential 2020 opponent. Can you say "abuse of power"? I knew you could.

One of the articles of impeachment against Richard Nixon (who, facing impeachment, resigned the Presidency) said he "prevented, obstructed and impeded the administration of justice." One of the articles of impeachment against Bill Clinton said he "prevented, obstructed and impeded the administration of justice." Emperor Trump is trying to expose the whistleblower, attacking impeachment inquiry witnesses as "Never Trumpers" and "human scum" and questioning their credibility, refusing to provide documents and tax records and ordering White House officials to ignore subpoenas to testify. Can you guess what one of the articles of impeachment against Donald Trump will be? I knew you could.

Today at a rally in Mississippi, Emperor Trump attacked "Sleepy Joe Biden," attacked "poor bastard" Beto O'Rourke and, proving once again that he knows nothing about the Constitution of the United States, called impeachment "an attack on democracy." He also – again – attacked Hillary Clinton over supposedly missing emails. His blindly loyal followers, ignoring the fact she was never charged with a crime, began chanting "Lock her up!" And, oh yes, another White House official is calling the impeachment inquiry "invalid" (which it isn't) and refusing to honor a subpoena.

Another White House official is refusing to testify. Do any of these blindly loyal Republican lackeys ever question why they should continue to support and defend the lying, racist, bigoted, pompous, narcissistic, dangerous, deranged, delusional orange-skinned Emperor who is totally unequipped to hold our nation's highest office and who cares about no one other than himself and a few dictators? Apparently not. They all march in lockstep. "Heil Trump!"

Emperor Trump, who doesn't care that the identity of a federal whistleblower is protected by law, wants the whistleblower to "come forward." Congressional Republicans are demanding Adam Schiff bring the whistleblower before the House to testify publicly. More than a dozen witnesses have corroborated the whistleblower's account of the Trump-Zelensky phone call and the quid-pro-quo offer. (Trump today tweeted that the account is "sooo wrong.") In a display of non-partisanship, the whistleblower is offering to answer questions from the GOP.

Emperor Trump continually lashes out at Mexicans, Muslims, immigrants, asylum seekers, judges, scientists, intelligence agencies, Democrats, the news media and anyone who dares to criticize him. Trump, same as all the dictators who have preceded him, tries to punish everyone whom he perceives as an enemy. He keeps denouncing the impeachment inquiry as "illegitimate," a "scam" and a "witch hunt." It is none of those things but Trump is immature, thin-skinned and vindictive. Last year he shut down government for 35 days because he didn't get billions of dollars to build his expensive, unnecessary, ineffective Trump Wall monument to himself. Will he shut down goverment because he doesn't like the impeachment investigation? I wouldn't put it past him.

The deranged, orange-skinned Tweeter-In-Chief continues to lash out at House impeachment investigators. Today he called "Shifty" Adam Schiff "a proven liar, leaker and freak who is really the one who should be impeached." At least seven White House officials who were supposed to testify this week are refusing to do so. Witnesses who ignore subpoenas at the direction of the White House are just giving House investigators more grounds to add obstruction to the articles of impeachment. Transcripts of closed-door testimonies will be released soon – and then there will be televised hearings. And Trump still claims his phone call with Zelensky was "perfect." Yeah, I suppose it was – if Trump defines "perfection" as asking a foreign government to dig up dirt on a political opponent and interfere with our Presidential election.

Marie Yovanovitch, former US ambassador to Ukraine, said Ambassador Gordon Sondland told her to "support" and "defend" Donald Trump. She complained that Rudy Giuliani was engaged in "shadow diplomacy," was trying to damage her reputation and was spreading conspiracy theories about the Bidens, corruption and Ukraine. Michael McKinley complained about the State Department using "bullying tactics" to dissuade officials from testifying in the impeachment inquiry. In Trumpworld, Trump's blindly loyal lackeys have one common objective: to worship Emperor Trump and to faithfully and unquestioningly carry out his bidding.
