From the "Take this with a grain of salt" department, here is an opinion piece from Rush Limbaugh (Donald Trump's number-two cheerleader behind Sean Hannity) and Fox News (a.k.a. The Trump Cheerleading Channel):

When it comes to Donald Trump, Joe Biden holds the same opinion as former British Ambassador Kim Darroch. Trump called Darroch, who dared to criticize him, a "pompous fool" who "is not liked or well thought of within the U.S." I wonder if Trump will hurl the same insults at Biden.
Biden calls Trump "dangerously incompetent"
Former Vice President Joe Biden today blasted President Trump as "dangerously incompetent" in a speech in New York about his plans for foreign policy. He said of Mr. Trump, "The world sees him as what he is: insincere, ill-informed and impulsive."

Many Democrats prefer Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren to Joe Biden but if Biden is the Democratic nominee in 2020 they will vote for him. They have a slogan: "Vote Blue, no matter who." Dean Obeidallah is a political satirist and former attorney who hosts a program on SiriusXM 127 and is a frequent contributor to CNN, MSNBC, The Daily Beast, The New York Times and other media. He writes that Trump is hoping for a highly divided Democratic party. He also writes that the party is showing unity, not division, and Trump should be worried.

The 15 voters who support Andrew Yang or Marianne Williamson have reason to be thankful. But 24 Democratic candidates? Twenty-four? The party needs to take a cue from the NCAA and quickly get down to the final four.

"There is NO WAY I can be losing to the Sleepy One," declared the pompous, egotistical, narcissistic, orange-skinned Tweeter-In-Chief today. He also – again – called the Mueller investigation a "witch hunt" and griped about "crooked Hillary" and "crooked Democrats." Welcome to Trumpworld, the Land of Delusions.

Most Presidential campaign slogans are hopeful and optimistic: "Liberty, justice, humanity." "A square deal for all." "Patriotism, protection and prosperity." Here is Emperor Trump's implicit slogan for 2020: "If you're white, a racist and an immigrant-hater, vote for me because I, too, am white, a racist and an immigrant-hater." Trump keeps spewing his hateful, divisive rhetoric and fear-mongering because he knows his blindly loyal supporters love it – and that is truly scary.

Trump told NBC News in May 2017 that his decision to fire FBI director James Comey was due in part to the FBI's investigation into Russian election meddling. (Obstruction of justice? Yes, it was.) In December 2018, after being sentenced to three years in prison for campaign finance violations (including hush-money payments) carried out at Trump's behest, Cohen expressed regret for his loyalty to the President, declaring that Trump "lies and continues to lie" and "does not deserve loyalty." Responding to Trump's latest series of hateful, divisive, racist tweets regarding the city of Baltimore, Representative Elijah Cummings and four non-white Congresswomen, Comey is pleading with Americans to have "strength of character" and not give the Racist-In-Chief a second term as President.

When are people going to quit idolizing this hateful, bigoted, racist, divisive, fear-mongering, white nationalist blowhard? If Emperor Trump has his way, our nation will be torn apart by race riots far worse than those of of 1919, 1943 and 1963-71
Trump's Baltimore tweets tell us everything about his 2020 strategy
President Donald Trump's strategy in 2020, similar to 2016, is to use race to divide the country. There is no mystery in what he's doing because he's done it before.

Well, here is an interesting twist I don't think anybody saw coming. And again we have to ask: What is Trump hiding?
California passes law requiring Trump to release his tax returns in order to be on the primary ballot
Presidential candidates must submit five years of income-tax filings to be eligible for the state's primary ballot. The law's passage comes amid President Donald Trump's years-long refusal to release his own tax returns because he claims they're under audit. The law will likely be hotly contested in the courts.

During the July 30-31 debates, Democrats were so highly critical of Obama and the Affordable Care Act, CNN responded with an op-ed asking "When did Obama become a Republican?" Even Emperor Trump took note, telling his blindly loyal supporters at a rally in Cincinnati, "The Democrats spent more time attacking Obama than they did attacking me, practically. This morning, that's all the fake news is talking about." (Yes, the orange-skinned parrot just had to squawk "Fake news!" yet again.) The Presidential candidates are now claiming, "Aw, shucks, we didn't really mean what we said."

Bloomberg's Jonathan Bernstein notes that in 2016 many people voted for Trump even though they didn't like him. I can't see that happening again in 2020. The many millions of Americans who despise Trump will vote for the Democratic candidate, whoever that may be.
Donald Trump should worry about his disapproval rating

Texas has not had a Democratic Senator since 1994. In 2018, Republican Senator Ted Cruz won reelection but by a narrow 50.9%-48.3% margin over Democratic challenger Beto O'Rourke. Nine Republican Congressmen have announced they will not run for reelection in 2020. Four – Will Hurd, Pete Olson, Kenny Marchant and Mike Conaway – are from Texas. CNN senior writer and political analyst Harry Enten looks at the possibility of Texas "turning blue" in 2020:
Analysis: Why Texas could go blue in 2020
Trump is a uniquely unpopular Republican in Texas who seems to be the driver of an important development: Like other Americans, Texans with a college degree are shifting rapidly from red to blue.

Here is CNN's 17th bi-weekly "power ranking" of the Democratic Presidential candidates. Joe Biden remains the front-runner and Elizabeth Warren has risen to the #2 spot, displacing Kamala Harris. Andrew Yang, #10 on the list, wants to give a monthly $1,000 "Freedom Dividend" to every adult in the US and pay for it by imposing a national value-added tax. Is he serious? His supporters obviously love the idea of "free money" and don't realize how much that "free money" will cost them. Yang's poll numbers and the number of contributors to his campaign have been rising. Yesterday he met the threshold to qualify for the Democratic debates in August and September.

If a Democrat is elected President in 2020, Democrats would need to pick up four Senate seats to regain a majority. If a Republican is elected, Democrats would need to pick up five seats. CNN's Chris Cillizza explains how the party could benefit if some of the Presidential candidates withdraw from the race and run for Senate instead.

This latest poll shows Trump would lose in 2020 to Biden. Or Sanders. Or Warren. Or Harris. If the race is between Trump and Biden, 43% who don't really like either candidate would vote for Biden and only 10% would vote for Trump. In other words, they wouldn't be voting for a candidate they like. They'd vote for whichever candidate they dislike less. Is this any way to decide an election?
