I think that is already proven since the overwhelming majority of Sirius internet subs are already Sirius sat subs and choose the internet add-on.

I agree that people on the site do not represent typical investors. It represents penny stock investors. A large portion of Sirius is now institutionally owned and the penny stock investors have largely left the stock.
Most every media investor believes that streaming music has taken a chunk out of the declining iTunes download business.
Siriusbuzz-
Does Comcast's declining subscriber base concern you?
I ask because I sold all of mine after they started reporting subscriber loses quarter after quarter.
Muscle-
Comcast sub numbers keep increasing quarter after quarter. What you are talking about is the lower margin video business which has had some minor declines and minor increases as well in the last several quarters.
Siriusbuzz-
I am talking about their cable TV subscribers. Its not that the declines weren't minor, its the fact that in their history they had NEVER declined, and then after they declined for 5 straight quarters, I sold all of my shares. When your company posts nothing but gains year after year after year and then all of sudden they post subscriber loss quarter after quarter, I find that concerning.
Muscle- That must have been 7 years ago when Comcast started losing video subs and their stock price has more than tripled since.

So did you sell in 2007 or are you just making up the NEVER DECLINED BEFORE?
Tell me about the Verizon build out again???
Maybe you should
Verizon nears “the end” of FiOS builds.
It's been nearly five years since Verizon decided to stop expanding its FiOS fiber network into new cities and towns, so this week's news won't come as a huge surprise: Verizon is nearing "the end" of its fiber construction and is reducing wireline capital expenditures while spending more on wireless.
"I have been pretty consistent with this in the fact that we will spend more CapEx in the Wireless side and we will continue to curtail CapEx on the Wireline side. Some of that is because we are getting to the end of our committed build around FiOS, penetration is getting higher," Verizon CFO Fran Shammo said yesterday in the Q4 2014 call with investors.
Wireline capital spending totaled $1.6 billion in the most recent quarter and $5.8 billion for 2014, down 7.7 percent from 2013, Verizon said.
Although FiOS competes strongly against cable companies like Comcast, the expense of replacing old copper lines with fiber led Verizon to stop building in new regions and to complete wiring up the areas where it had already begun. Verizon even partnered with cable companies in 2012 to resell cable service in bundles with Verizon Wireless in areas where FiOS was never built.

Man Disney is getting close to 14 times EV/EBITDA. I hope it can break it
Enterprise Value/EBITDA 13.92

The higher Disney and Charter (I own both) multiples both go the cheaper Comcast looks in comparison at 8 times. Jurassic World goes over $1 billion today. Fastest ever

Personally I absolutely love that Sirius is broadcasting all the summer music festivals. Live concerts is where I always thought Sirius should distinguish itself in music over terrestrial radio. I listened to the FireFly festival with my wife on the beach this past weekend. It was awesome

I agree and have always wondered why they have not done more of this. I read both PR's but didn't see any mention of Live Nation. I always thought this was a perfect match for them. Do you know if there's any connection on either of these?
BTW. I agree that Sirius is definitely a different animal than streaming. As you've said and I agree Sirius is a content provider. EXCLUSIVE CONTENT. A radio plus. Last time I checked you couldn't get FOX, CNBC, Etc. on any streaming music player.
I'm also a Disney holder and this is looking to be a major year for the studio.
Take care. Hedy.
hedy good to see you back man....where you been?
Hedy - I heard Live Nation controls about 5 or 6 of the top 7 live US music festivals. I don't know the details of these concert deals for Sirius. But I am of the opinion that Liberty Media has a long term plan to vertically integrate Sirius in music by pulling Live Nation and perhaps a large record label all under the Liberty Media umbrella with Sirius together. Just guessing that's the long term plan for LMCA. Strategically I think it makes sense. How it would be managed is a whole different question......But it's a way to get around the commoditization of music.
I hope this is how all the states go!

Merrill reiterated buys on Comcast Disney and Sirius this morning. $84 target on Comcast, $130 target on Disney and $5 target on Sirius. Comcast valued on EV/EBITDA, Disney valued on EPS, Sirius valued on Discounted Cash Flow.
Someone posted a small portion of the report on Twitter. There is a lot more but some good info here -

Good question. I remember when it was only EV/EBITDA in the 90s. I think it has to do with the extent of capital expenditures maturity of growth and buybacks now. It was easier to value in the 90s. There is no doubt that stock buybacks have changed the valuation game.
If the buybacks continue at this torrid pace, I could actually envision a day 5 years from now when all media companies are valued on EPS again like they were in the 70s and 80s. It has already happened to all the content companies- Disney CBS Fox and Time Warner. I can see it going across cable and satellite too one day. Hasn't happened yet.
The good thing for us media fanatics that loved the 90s Yahoo has EV/EBITDA multiples listed for all companies under Key Statistics. And they are updated every few days. At minimum once a week.
Watch for another possible siri buying opportunity at months end when apple starts to go into hype mode about their new subscription streaming product which starts june 30th.
I've been around DM.
Mostly as an observer. Enjoy the thoughts and opinions of guys like you , Denco. and a few others. Am enjoying the commentary from Muscle and appreciate his thoughts on the industry as a whole.
The noise from some of the other folks doesn't always sit well so I'd rather stay away and avoid any urge to reduce myself to those levels. Which BTW I've been know to do. LOL
Some folks seem to think they know everything which disturbs me a bit.
Take care man. I'll be watching.

Last year Live Nation got into a contentious battle with Nederlander/AEG for rights to the Greek Theater here in L.A. First they won , then they lost, now I don't know who's running things. Maybe the city which was also an option under consideration.
It appears that they sell tickets to the Greek concerts as well as the Forum here.
If Live Nation can get the rights to operate these type of venues, as well as controlling these music festivals it can only provide an avenue for Sirius to promote their service.
Places like the Greek and such cater to all age groups which Sirius does as well.
A banner here. A booth over there.
Selling some discounted packages or giving trials to interested parties could only be a positive.
Let's get this done.
Hedy
Good to know your back Hedy. I know you took some time off from here cuz you were sick of some of the bs..cant say i blame ya. peace brotha.
i honestly thought a deal between siri, lmca, yahoo and live nation would have been accomplished years ago... Malone recently came out with a comment about how he thinks LN and siri should somehow work together or something to that effect. I was under the impression that live nation owns a lot of venues as is.
