The media reported the news, the news was negative, stop shooting the messenger. NOT reporting that the person who Sirius XM cite as their biggest draw was not included in the application, would have been irresponsible.
If Howard being left out was not huge news, it would not be the thing being talked about all over every piece of user editable sirius xm medium today.
Its a BIG DEAL and it sucks, plain and simple.
How long is "only a matter of time?" 3 days? Months? Years? If he isn't anytime soon, can we assume that you have less then half a brain?
We have been planning a full review of the app and Tyler even purchased an iPod touch specifically for this application. Can we post the review after we get a chance to review it? or should we just pretend that we have used it and throw some shit at the wall and see if it sticks?
No, I wrote about the release of the application. That was the news about the release IMHO. Turns out, most everyone agrees.
Maybe he thought that its importance was not being stressed enough? I certainly didnt write anything long winded about it. Tyler has paid his dues and can say whatever he likes, if you don't like it, change the channel.
Okay, so lets just say for fun that we didn't have the no Howard thing to discuss today. Howard was included in the app, no fuss. What would have happened?
PPS would have jumped. Profit takers would have sold. Price would retrace. Maybe not as much, but I have no doubt the bitch would be about the take down from the profit taking.
Am I right? What is really different?
Howard will be accessible via the app. There is no way in hell it's not going to happen. What are we going to bitch about then? :argue:
i phone without Howard? :confused:Thats going to interest people..I'm sure. Howard is all Siri has. I really thought his i phone deal wasn't even going to happen anyway,so maybe Siri did do something,. O boy!
At the end of the day, SXM got more PR play for Howard NOT being included in the app than if he was. And if he was, what would be the next thing that brought interest to this stock. 2Q sub numbers? Doubt it.
Folks this is still the same company that is on the cusp of positive EPS. I will say it again POSITIVE EPS. When that day is here, this day will be a vague memory of "Wow we go wound up over that?"
Don't agree we would have seen retrace. This app had the potential to be BIG POSITIVE news because it is a delivery vehicle for the future, climbing aboard Apple's huge hit. Only SXM can cause a 14% drop in SP on a day when they release such positive news, and that's because they're inept, and turned what should've been a huge plus, into a giant negative. Don't get me wrong. It's not like it's dead. The app is there, so they can recover. But only if they can get Howard on there, and live sports.
You mean to one of my 120 channels of quality sports, talk, music, and live concerts? not to mention wonderful unique programming designed to please all ages and interests? Sure.....
You mean those channels?
I didnt say you shouldnt mention it, please pull appropriate quotes to make the conversation more honest looking. I said you could even put it in THE TITLE, as you did of course. Just mention aspects your AVID music and siriusxm fans want to know about the app itself. Anything. You were breaking news, but only the news you wanted. Break something else. Like a quick review of the download process, I dont ****ing know. something to show us its not a biased article, and that your not just writing it for hits, and to piss off investors.
I replied to each point you made 1 by 1 in my previous post so that you couldnt say I was picking and choosing.
What did I put in the title?
1. I didnt mention the downloads because I dont think its that big of a deal. You yourself have said that you dont need an ipod if you have Sirius XM so, why would I point out that you can build an iPhone music library?
2. You say that I should say something else but, there was nothing else to say. I mentioned 120 channels and then mentioned whaat was missing. Its an app that lets you listen to channels. That is what it does.
3. I am a ****ING INVESTOR. You stupid asshole. AND I have more money tied up in this stock then I will ever make from this website so, maybe, JUST MAYBE, I actually write about what I think and leave everything else out of it. It called credibility. Unlike an investor (and Im not talking about only you) who makes moves on a day by day basis and runs around spouting off about this company everywhere there is an audience.

Bloomberg reports Howard WILL NOT be on the iphone / itune application due to "mature" content.
They also cite no MLB or NFL due to licensing which is funny as if you read the press release on Sirius.com, they don't mention Howard at all, but do mention NFL.......
If Bloomberg picks it up; I inclined to think it's legit and newsworthy.
This must be BS

This article is quoting SXM cust service as saying Howard not on iPhone app due to 'mature content'. I sure hope that's BS. That doesn't seem plausible since this is a pay service. But, I do know Apple is policing apps to keep off the porn. And, isn't Playboy channel included in this thing? It's on the internet channel lineup too, right?
its showing sirius as the #1 free ap, i dont know where to find how many downloads im new to this itunes stuff.
Put what in the title? What do you think. Im done. You win. Now your just being obtuse(I love Shawshank Redemption....)
I have no idea. My title was "The Long Awaited Sirius XM iPhone Application Finally Hits the App Store"
What was wrong with that?
It would have been impossible for them to not pass Pandora on the day of the release.
The release of an app alone is not going to create sustainable gains for the stock. Show me (not you personally) some figures that detail exactly how this is going to impact the financials. IMO you need to wait to see the actual impact on the financials or take rate for the subs. And even then, it's going to take a couple quarters showing sustained growth, and revenues from the mobile product for Wall Street to appreciate SIRI and trust its stability and growth potential.
The problem is the recent volatility and dirt cheap share price has made it overly attractive to the day trading crowd. It trades largely on emotion, speculation, and to a certain extent is capped by these traders. Either they got in very low and are playing the swings up and down, or they got in high and are terrified and looking for the exit as soon as the price appreciates to their buy in levels. I reference the Yahoo boards, which we all know are full of idiocy, but they get a lot more foot traffic than these boards. Stop in there for a minute and watch the sentiments of the "investors". Some people just have no business being in the market. Some people actually were expecting the share price to jump to $1 today.... a dollar. Imagine their collective shock this morning.
I agree with everyone. Leaving Howard off the table was a huge missed opportunity. Its not exactly clear particularly because he is already streamed over the online players. At the same time, I'm sure they had legitimate reasons to do so (contract negotiations, revenue share deals, alternate apps, etc.) and reasons for the lack of transparency. And when it comes to sports, I think its smart to look before you leap. Assuming the leagues would even agree to the stream of games over the internet... Wouldn't it be smart to gauge the mobile market and interest in these channels before starting in potentially expensive negotiations? Additional revenue > Cost to get mobile rights? We're not a cash cow here, we're trying to get our footing and dig out of a hole.
Joined this site in hopes of gaining some insight into the future of Sirius XM. Disappointed to see that this site is full of very biased very blind optimists chasing nothing more than a loser penny stock. Wake up people. Sirius XM is a loser. It always has been. And it continues to demonstrate its incompetence.
Oh I would never say that not including Howard in the app was a positive move for the pps, but I would also say that I don't think I would have delayed the app because Howard's contract negotiations were not complete. From a business perspective, the app had to get released. You have to do what you say or you cannot build trust in the market.
We are missing Howard, but are we missing the point?
There approx 15 mil paying SXM subs
Lets just 3.5 mil are Howard base (those that bought service because of him)
So he has a approx a 20% pull through. Big I agree.
So there are approx 20 mil iphones/itouch in U.S.
Lets just estimate 20% of those will never subscribed or include current SXM subs. Leaves 16 mil i's left and
20% pull through for Howard is to high, as many fans are subscribers following him now Lets give him a 10% pull through.
That leaves approx 14.4 mil iphones/itouches to go after without Howard.
Not having Howard contracted for the roll out of the app definitely not a good PR move, but from a business perspective. I would focus on the 14.4 mil I's.
