The Youngbloods formed in 1965 in Greenwich Village, New York. Get Together reached #62 on the Billboard Hot 100 in October 1967. In 1969, after the National Council of Christians & Jews used the song in radio and television commercials promoting unity, Get Together was re-released and would get to #5 in September. Adcock played banjo, guitar and mandolin. During his tenure with the Country Gentlemen, 1959-70, the band released eight studio albums and two live albums. That "classic" lineup of the band was inducted into the Bluegrass Music Hall Of Fame in 1994. Adcock also recorded with Don Reno, Talk Of The Town, IInd Generation and his own group, The Eddie Adcock Band.

Huey Williams, the last surviving original member of the Jackson Southernaires, died today, March 24. He was 87. The gospel group from Jackson, Mississippi, released 28 albums between 1969 and 2010. Among their best-known songs are Too Late, Lead Me, Heavy Load, Walk Around Heaven, Can't Make It By Myself, Don't Look Down On A Man and Thank You For My Mansion.
