Kreskin worked for several years as a clinical pyschologist while developing his act and his supposed ability to make "predictions." Guitarist Nile Rodgers, bassist Bernard Edwards, drummer Tony Thompson and vocalists Luci Martin and Norma Jean Wright formed Chic in 1977 in New York City. After one hit, Dance Dance Dance (Yowsah Yowsah Yowsah), Wright left the group and was replaced by Alfa Anderson, who sang lead on Le Freak, Good Times, My Forbidden Lover and I Want Your Love. The original group broke up in 1983. Rodgers formed a new Chic group in 1996.

DeSanto, born Umpeylia Balinton in Brooklyn, toured with the Johnny Otis Revue in 1955 and the James Brown Revue in 1959-60. She had a #4 R&B hit in October 1960 with I Want To Know.
