CNN just released its eleventh monthly "power rankings" of the 2020 Democratic Presidential candidates. Last month, Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders were tied for first. This month.......

Joe Biden today released a short video announcing his candidacy. Referencing the deadly clash between white supremacists and counter-protesters in Charlottesville, Biden said Trump's declaration that there are "some very fine people on both sides" convinced him that "the threat to this nation was unlike any I had seen in my lifetime. We are in the battle for the soul of this nation."
The President's response – on Twitter, of course – was to call Biden "Sleepy Joe," to doubt Biden's intelligence and to note the "sick & demented ideas" of other candidates. The New York Times considers whether Biden is "out of step with the mores of today's Democratic party":

A Real Clear Politics average of national polls shows Biden leading all other Democratic Presidential candidates. Biden is favored by 29.3% of Democratic voters. Bernie has 23%. If Biden wins the nomination, he should pick Harris or O'Rourke as his running mate – assuming, of course, they would want to be his running mate. Either one would boost Biden's chance of winning the Presidency – although CNN's Jeffrey Toobin thinks nobody ever votes for a Presidential candidate based on who the running mate is. How would he know?

Democratic voters say they want more diversity: younger candidates, female candidates, black candidates, Hispanic candidates – but I'm betting the "final two" in this 20-person race for the nomination will be Biden and Bernie.

Remember in 2016 when Donald Trump complained that the polls were rigged, the debates were rigged, the nominating conventions were rigged and the primaries were rigged? Today the Tweeter-In-Chief is resurrecting his ridiculous rhetoric regarding rigging. And, oh yes, he again calls the news media "fake" and again calls Biden "Sleepy Joe."

Trump's advisers must feel completely useless. Trump never heeds their advice. He says what he wants to say and does what he wants to do. Why does he even have advisers?
Trump goes after Biden — and against advisers' advice

President Donald Trump appeared unnerved as Joe Biden secured the endorsement of the top firefighters' union, issuing Monday a string of four tweets targeting the Democratic Presidential candidate and union leaders. That's exactly the behavior several of the President's political advisers have been warning him against, wary that Trump will elevate a potentially formidable rival, two sources familiar with the discussions told CNN.
"Sleepy Joe Biden is having his first rally in the Great State of Pennsylvania. He obviously doesn't know that Pennsylvania is having one of the best economic years in its history," Trump tweeted. "The Dues Sucking firefighters leadership will always support Democrats, even though the membership wants me. Some things never change!" Within hours, the former Vice President fired back, showing just why Trump's advisers might be concerned. "I'm sick of this President badmouthing unions. Labor built the middle class in this country. Minimum wage, overtime pay, the 40-hour week: they exist for all of us because unions fought for those rights. We need a President who honors them and their work," Biden tweeted.

During the 2016 Presidential race, Russian agents, acting under orders from Vladimir Putin, worked to ensure a Trump victory. Russians created hundreds of fake accounts on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites. Russians spread anti-Clinton, pro-Trump propaganda and fake news stories and tried to stir up racial discord and undermine our democracy. Russians spent $100,000 on ads promoting Trump and denigrating Clinton. Russian hackers stole 19,000 of Clinton's emails and 60,000 of campaign chairman John Podesta's emails and released them to the public via DCLeaks, WikiLeaks and Guccifer. US intelligence agencies know Russians have already begun making plans to help Trump win re-election in 2020. But things are different in Trumpworld, where the Ignoramus-In-Chief calls Russian meddling a "hoax" and declares, "Putin said he didn't meddle and I believe him."

CNN just reported the results of an April 25-28 CNN/SSRS poll of voters' preferences in head-to-head matchups between Trump and each of the top six Democratic Presidential candidates: Sanders beats Trump 50% to 44%, Biden beats Trump 51% to 45%, Buttigieg beats Trump 47% to 44%, Harris beats Trump 49% to 45% and O'Rourke beats Trump 52% to 42%. The poll shows Trump beating only one candidate: Elizabeth Warren, by a margin of 48% to 47%. In none of those six matchups would Trump win a majority of votes.
