Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2025 nominees

Chubby Checker & the Dreamlovers' version of Hank Ballard's The Twist went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in September 1960. A year later, after Checker's Let's Twist Again became a top-ten hit, The Twist was re-released. In January 1962, it went to number one again. Checker has had 23 top-40 hits, eight top tens and two number ones – three number ones, if you count The Twist twice. He is still not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. In fact, this year is the first time he's appeared on the ballot!

Among the many other deserving artists who are still not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame are Phil Collins, Bryan Adams, Cyndi Lauper, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Sting, Kansas, Boston, Devo, Grand Funk, INXS, Iron Maiden, Toto, King Crimson, Mötley Crüe, Jethro Tull, Bad Company, Three Dog Night, Tears For Fears, Smashing Pumpkins, the B-52's, the J. Geils Band and Huey Lewis & the News.

Among the many other artists who are not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame – but should be – are Jim Croce, Barry White, Connie Francis, Mary Wells, Mariah Carey, Weird Al Yankovic, Steppenwolf, Procol Harum, Guess Who, Blue Öyster Cult, Carpenters, Commodores, Monkees, Marvelettes, Shangri-La's, Pointer Sisters, Jan & Dean, Chaka Khan & Rufus, Dion & the Belmonts, Peter Paul & Mary and Emerson Lake & Palmer.

Many of the artists in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame are not rock & roll. They should change the name.

During tonight's telecast of American Idol, the names of this year's Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductees were announced. The November 8 induction ceremony at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles will stream live on Disney+ and will be available on Hulu the following day. Chubby Checker, who had 22 top-40 hits (including duets), seven top tens and two number ones – The Twist and Pony Time – is finally in!
