electrical issue or receiver problem?

Hi, I'm new here and I need help. Recently my xm satellite unit has turned on by itself several times (home radio). It did this a few times last month. I went to turn it on one day and the only part that powered on was the boom box, the receiver did not power on. I tried several things to get it to work again. Finally, I called customer service and they agreed to send me a new receiver. I had the unit plugged into the wall outlet, so I decided to plug it into a surge protector and bingo, the receiver powered on and everything was fine. I canceled the replacement receiver. The past couple of days, it's been doing the same thing, turning on by itself. I'm at a loss as to what the issue is. Any suggestions of help would be appreciated! :confused:
