In a filing with the FCC, Sirius and XM noted support from Senators Ensign and DeMint in the proposed merger. This brings the political support total to sixteen. While support from these sixteen members may not seem as impressive as the eighty who came out against the merger, there is an important distinction between the two camps:

Those that came out against the merger did so early in the process, and BEFORE all of the information was available. Those that have come out in support of the merger have done so on a more fully informed basis.

The FCC and Department of Justice have both expressed goals to come to a conclusion on this merger in an expeditious way. Rumors have already circulated that the DOJ is close to a decision, and a recent documentation request by the FCC illustrates that the agency is moving towards a decision as well.
