The Teamsters Union has stated that they will honor the UAW strike of GM and will not haul GM cars. Teamster union boss James Hoffa stated, "Workers should not bear the brunt of decades of bad business decisions by GM management."
The Teamsters stepping into the mix makes things a bit more problematic for GM. With about a million cars in inventory, there is now a challenge of getting these cars to dealers during the strike. There are many non-union truckers who are capable of transporting the cars, but scheduling and routing will be a trick. If this evolves into a prolonged situation, then sales of the current inventory could be impacted.
