Stern Alternative Still Missing
Another Friday has passed, and once again I looked to the Sirius channel line-up for a Stern alternative. A radio show where topical information is discussed in a way that is light yet engaging, and perhaps a bit more straight and narrow than the typical Howard Stern broadcast.
If you are a Howard Stern fan then you are all set with Sirius’ morning drive line up. If you are not, you may find yourself without much of a choice. Maxim radio is a replay in the morning. Sirius Stars lacks a regular morning show. Indie talk has a replay. Martha Stewart’s morning show is geared towards women.
What is a casual Stern fan to do? The political shows are simply too political. The sports shows are pure sports, and while the music is great, people sometimes simply want a topical variety show in the morning. A show that is light hearted, yet has the ability to get serious. A show that can flow with the happenings in our world, and catch us up with the latest news and information. Why is Sirius missing this?
Afternoon drive is chock full of talent and shows. Jay Thomas, Cavino and Rich, Bubba, Jennifer and Alexis’ Whatever, and several more. Why can’t we have the same type of quality and variety in the morning?
Morning drive is the bread and butter of radio. I get music all day long. In the morning I want information and a show host that is dynamic. I pay for three subscriptions every month. Why do I find myself scanning the Sirius dial and ultimately winding up listening to terrestrial radio’s Dennis and Callahan on Sports Radio WEEI this morning? Sirius is in my opinion missing the morning drive boat.
Stern is entertaining, no doubt about it, but there are a large number of fans who would prefer a less edgy show, and at this point Sirius has a slim offering to satisfy the listeners needs.

They should have Jason Ellis @ faction 28 do Fridays. He is very entertaining and would be perfect for Friday morning.
I cannot agree more. I hate Fridays! There is no morning show at all. Occasionally I will listen to Playboy channel’s morning show, which is, unfortunately, almost horrible.
Frankly, with the amount of time Howard takes off, I don’t understand why Sirius can’t offer more in the morning.

Jason Ellis is always my “Stern Alternative”, located on Faction 28. So much so, that now Stern in my Ellis Alternative.
I could not agree more. They need something live on Fridays. I really enjoyed it when Bubba was on, but now, nothing. If they’re waiting for the merger to go through before they make any more big programming decisions, they’re really taking it on the chin because of the delay. Or, should I say, we’re taking it on the chin.

fridays are extremelly dull without Bubba in the morning anymore. Jason Ellis is already a favorite of mine, But I would rather have him in the morning than to wait untill 3 o’clock for a live show.

Jason Ellis needs more air time-Period. Give him friday mornings on one station, then his regular show on faction in the afternoon.
We need Ellis on Friday mornings and not on Octane. Give him Bubba’s old spot. Sirius subscribers demand it!!
I caught a bit of Jason Ellis today because of the feedback here. I would say that he would be a viable show on the Stern Channel for Friday’s, but would not categorize him as a “Stern Alternative” for people seeking a less edgy show.
This issue goes beyond Fridays. Someone else mentioned the amount of time Howard takes off. Just take a look at this week. Howard was off, and the “best of” shows just don’t cut it for most people who are starting to feel that the Stern show is apathetic about putting out a good product. Stern and Sirius are treading on thin ice. They need to put more effort forth or they will lose subscribers.
I am thinking that Mayhem is great fighter and DJ hosting man. Jason Ellis makes skateboarding a good job, and also motorcycle and also car racing, and also fighting.

I think people should stop putting Howard on such a pedestal, I mean, sure, he’s the “King of all Media” but really, he’s becoming more and more dated. To generalize, most of his listeners are between, 30-50, the only reason the younger audience tunes in is for the rare time a more youth oriented guest is on. It’s time to start thinking about “the future” of entertainment. Stop looking for replacements and just look for some entertainment. Faction 28 has the right idea with hosts like Jason Ellis and Bam Margera and Tony Hawk. These shows represent the listeners who want to be entertained, not to hear the latest about Artie’s prostate exam. We the younger crowd want to hear about the 17th most exciting fighter in the world in MMA on Mayhem Mondays on the Jason Ellis show, skateboarding, car racing, Motocross, tattoos, and things that are hot right now, not hot for aging hipsters who are clinging to a youth that is fast escaping them…

Mayhem Mondays is the greatest show on earth. The 17th most exciting fighter in the world told me how to properly smell money balls. Jason Ellis is my mom’s dad, and is my brother.

The Only reason I have Sirius is to listen to the 7th greatest mega ramp skater in the world, Jason “6 Pounds Soft” Ellis. Exspecially on Mayhem Mondays with the 17th most exciting fighter in MMA. Ellis keeps us safe from monkeys, gets his intern handjobs, tells you if your gay, and I hear he sucks dick for coke. This show is totally worth the “less than 50 cents a day”, their words, Sirius costs. Howard is boring, and bubba is a wus for not fighting Ellis. So tune in to 28 Faction in the afternoons and listen to the Maymillerac and “The Future” of satelite radio.
MAYHEM is my favorite fighter because he’s a the person’s champ. He’s currently the 17th most exciting fighter in the world.

The only reason to have Sirius radio is to listen to ‘The Future’ and ‘Mayhem’ on Faction 28! My buddy listens to Howard and I just found out that he now likes bearded men and hairy asses, so that’s in your future if you don’t start listening to ‘Mayhizzle’ and ‘six lbs soft.’
Jason Ellis is the best show on Sirius for me. It’s def edgy so not for everyone but I just can’t take the same walking corpses they drag out everyday on Stern and Bubba anymore.
If you liked Howard before he got old and crotchety then you will love the Ellis show. It may take a couple shows to dig into the crazy flow he has going but he won’t bore you with has-been wrestlers, old porn stars, fat drunks, etc.
No alternative to Stern? To put it simply, The Jason Ellis Show on Sirius 28- Faction is not an alternative to Stern, it is SUPERIOR. Just as raw. Just as vile. But more entertaining. There is no need to question why Jason Ellis aka THE FUTURE aka Motosaki aka the Red Dragon aka Six Pounds Soft aka Baby Monster… the list goes on… has gained a following so quickly. Personally, the greatest segment on the show is Mayhem Monday with professional MMA fighter Jason MAYHEM Miller, formerly the 17th most exciting MMA fighter in the world, before he was bumped UP the list. The off the wall, fast paced dialogue between the two Jasons is hilarious, and almost always induces vomiting from the lack of oxygen from non-stop laughter. No alternative to Stern? Maybe 5 years ago… but THE FUTURE is here. And his name is Jason Ellis.
the Jason Ellis show should have its own station on Serius…his humor is 5th grade at best and he cant have a conversation about anything but gays, sexual organs, feces, etc. and Rawdog gets treated like Gary Delabate on Sterns anal show. If i were Rawdog I’d tell Ellis to kiss his butt for being railed on like he does. Nobody should have to get his ass reamed like that by ANYONE, let alone a kangaroo breath so-called show host. his station 6028 Serius wastes all these hours a week when i want my punk music back. thank you, mate.
