The magnets would limit how far down the gas pedal could be pressed. Thus making the ability of the car on the track not match the ability of the car in testing.

As I said in the article, we do not know if the drivers even knew the magnets were being added.

Why magnets? probably just for ease of installation and removal as well as the fact that there would be no bolts showing.

In my opinion it was not about magnetism, but rather limiting how far down the pedal could be depressed.

Can someone give me a quick explaination why you would want to put a magnet under the gas pedal. I'm an ex pro-srock drag racer so should be able to follow the technicals of it.
thanks in advance

The teams are identified by their respective drivers. The article states, "To be fair to both drivers, it is not clear whether they were aware of the situation that caused their cars to read differently on the dyno than when racing on the track."

Tony being in trouble is simply by association. No matter what, this will come back on him even if he was totally unaware of the situation.

First off this article is misleading. Tony isn't in trouble. They never said the drivers did it. Why would Tony put a magnet in his car after the race. This was found after POST INSPECTION and the drivers weren't anywhere around.

JGR is not known to cheat, however, they sure did this time. They need the book thrown at them and I believe JGR will fire the ones that did this, but for your article to imply that Tony Stewart is in trouble is just a bad case of reporting.

Get your facts straight.

The writer leaves out this was in the Nationwide race, so any penalties will not effect the chase. Also from what i've read the magnets were not in the cars during the race, rather after the effect when the cars went to dyno.
