Sirius XM to Air Every Game of the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs
Sirius XM Radio announced today that every game of the Stanley Cup Playoffs will air on Sirius XM Radio, along with news and analysis from the NHL Home Ice Channel. For those of you who are XM subscribers, you can listen on XM channels 204-209, while Sirius subscribers can listen on channels 210-220 through the Best of XM package.
Coverage will kick off with the opening round on Wednesday, April 15th from 2 -7 pm, when Chris “Mad Dog” Russo will host a special NHL post-season edition of his own show on Sirius Channel 123 and XM Channel 144.
Be sure to check out Gary Bettman’s regular weekly talk show, NHL Hour With Commissioner Gary Bettman, every Thursday on NHL Home Ice at 4pm ET, where the Commissioner talks with special guests and answers questions from hockey fans from around the country. Listeners are welcome to call in at 877-645-6696 and ask their questions live on air. For instance, maybe something along the lines of… what the heck is up with these guys in the league diving all over the place like soccer players and why can’t the referees spot it?

The NHL on Sirius is a perfect example of a huge expense for programming that barely anyone listens to.
The NHL is on the verge of bankruptcy itself.
i dont think so. there teams that are not in hockey markets that should be hamiltion or back to winnipeg, but the nhl is not going bankrupt.
Just because you don’t listen, doesn’t mean other people don’t. I have Sirius with the Best of Xm just for this reason. I believe bringing Nhl to Sirius is a better investment than bringing Isaac Mizrahi ( ) to Matha Stewart radio, but I may be wrong.

The NHL is just as bad an ‘investment’ as Martha Stewart and Oprah have been.
They all have an EXTREMELY limited number of listeners and do NOTHING to generate revenue for the company.
i tend to agree with mitch on this one. i think there are many more rabid hockey fans with satrad than rabid martha fans, or oprah. martha stewart gets 7.5 million a year. the nhl gets 10 million a year. maybe i am biased as a male hockey fan, but every local broadcast for 30 nhl teams has to bring in more listeners than martha stewart.
also i dont like talking trash cause it always comes back to bite you in the ass, ie johnnyflyersfan up there, but this series between washington and ny rangers has the makings of something awesome. plus pittsburgh v philly… thats gonna be heated.
