Sirius XM Personality Lynn Samuels Passes Away Christmas Eve
Whether you agreed with her politics or not, one thing was true about Lynn Samuels. She was passionate about her position and created compelling radio. Lynn had been with Sirius XM for about 8 years, and was once a staple with a regular weekday slot on Sirius XM’s Liberal channel. Most recently she had a reduced role with the company with a shift on weekends for the Sirius XM Stars channel.
Samuels did not report for her show on Christmas Eve. Sirius XM sent Police to her address where the authorities discovered the deceased, who at 69, passed away from a reported heart attack. Sirius XM will air a tribute to Samuels on Tuesday, December 27th on Sirius XM Left.
SO sad to hear. Always got a kick out of listening to Lynn! She was one of a kind.
I couldn’t believe Sirius took her show off the air. I alway’s thought it was her decision to just work just Sunday’s. Lynne was one of the most interesting talk show hosts they had. You didn’t have to agree with her… she was just funny, crazy, and plain easy to listen to. And what a truly unique point of view!! And they cater to an overpaid joke like Howard Stern who works 3 day’s a week. All he does is run the company down for not paying him enough, and complain about even having to show up for work. Sirius needs some fresh NEW talk programming in their line up.
She was a gas- whether one agreed with her viewpoints or disagreed (sometimes I found myself agreeing AND disagreeing with her- AT THE SAME TIME :), she spoke her mind.
I’ve missed her on a daily basis, and now will miss her even more.
Our thoughts are with her family.
I’ve listened to Lynn on and off for many years. Recently I was surprised to hear Lynn talk about purchasing a part-time home in the Southwest. I feel like I want to dial-in and hear Lynn’s own comments about her passing!
I discovered Lynn just a little before she was kicked out of Sirius Left. I absolutely enjoyed her show. She was unique and very original; a clear thinker. Her NYC accent and attitude brought me nostalgic memories of my youth. I grew up in NYC. She was one of the reasons I subscribed to Sirius radio, other than airways reception on my car. I’ll probably have to switch to XM to get Alex Jones. There’s no good shows left.
I sure will miss ya! My favorite thing is to “immitate” Lynn, especially as she spoke about the subways being shut down, and not being able to buy a rye bread! Live on in our hearts, Lynn!
Our whole family listened to Lynn for so many years. Our oldest son ( now 30) called her a few times when he was 10 or 11, that was a wonderful treat for him to be appreciated for his “unique” perspective. She will always be remembered for her sharp and unpredictable insights and her great sense of humor and decorum!
I forever will miss Lynn. My sympathys to her family. I think Sirus made a big mistake taking her off weekdays. I do not like the new lineup. bill should not have been cut to one hour. Alex Bennett should be taken off. RIP Lynn!
@Shelly, I feel exactly the same way about the Sirius lineup. I hardly ever agreed with Lynn, but I still listened to her. She had a magnetic way of making her points, she made me laugh, mad and sad. I guess that’s about as good as it gets for a talk show host. My wife and I have been turning into Stars 107, on the weekend and was wandering what happened to her. This is so sad, she had so many people that loved her, yet I don’t think she knew how to love back.
It is the end of January 2012…I always switched over to listen to Lynn on Saturday mornings. I started wondering if her show was moved…Google searched- was very sad to hear that she passed and she did not get to enjoy her winters in Arizona!
I’m so sad to find out about her passing away. She was trying to make it to 70 so she could retire at full social security benefits. I regret having turned of my radio a few months back and missing her final broadcasts.
She was a brave woman in my opinion. She used to unabashedly lay into a powerful person and a powerful foreign interest, who are well known for dispatching enemies around the world, which is why I find her death suspicious.
