You are the worlds biggest Grateful Dead fan.  You have been to dozens upon dozens of concerts, have every live bootleg recording in existence and even love that Cherry Garcia Ice Cream put out by Ben & Jerry’s.  What could possibly exist or happen that would be new to you?  Well, Sirius XM has that something special that you wont want to miss airing December 14, 2011 on Sirius XM’s Grateful Dead Channel (channel 23).

Sirius XM has announced a new special titled, “The Worlds of Mickey Hart”.  The show explores the amazing archive of recordings collected by legendary Grateful Dead percussionist Mickey Hart.  Throughout the decades Hart, as a musician, songcatcher, preservationist, and cultural advocate has amassed an impressive collection of private recordings. Listeners will be treated to these tunes and the muses of Hart.  Each show will include special guests, generous helpings of music from around the globe including The Mickey Hart Collection from Smithsonian Folkways Recordings and illustrate the ways in which Mickey wove those sounds into the tapestry of the Grateful Dead.

The show started Tuesday, December 12th at 5:00 PM on channel 23.  If you missed it, no worries!  The show will replay on December 14th at 9:00 AM, Friday, December 16the at 1:00 am ET, and  Saturday, December 17th at 3:00 pm ET
