Sirius XM Announces New Tabletop Internet Radio
Sirius XM Radio announced a new tabletop radio designed to bring the best out of the Internet radio offerings of the company. The all new tabletop Internet Radio makes it easy to enjoy SIRIUS XM’s online programming in the home or office without the need for a computer. This concept promises to make Sirius XM’s Internet radio service more appealing, as the device can be placed anywhere, and will match virtually any decor.
The SIRIUS Tabletop Internet Radio (TTR1) is stylish and convenient way to bring SIRIUS XM’s Premium Online content to the home or office using a wired or wireless high-speed Internet connection. The full-featured TTR1 is easy to set up and use, offering a complete listening solution for subscribers who want to use their high-speed Internet connection to access SIRIUS XM’s online channels without the need for a computer.
“The SIRIUS Tabletop Internet Radio is an attractive radio for our subscribers who want a convenient way to listen to SIRIUS XM programming beyond their vehicle, whether in their office, kitchen, living room or bedroom,” said Bob Law, Group Vice President and General Manager, After Market Division, SIRIUS XM Radio.
The TTR1 has a unique interface that includes a network connection wizard that walks users through a few simple steps to set up and access the Premium Online channels through their wired or wireless high-speed Internet connection. Customers can add Premium SIRIUS Internet Radio to an existing SIRIUS satellite radio subscription ($2.99 per month) or sign-up for a stand-alone subscription ($12.95 per month) for online listening only. All subscribers to the service can easily connect the TTR1 to the Internet to listen to their favorite sports, talk, news, entertainment and commercial-free music programming, as well as exclusive showcase channels that are not available via satellite radio.
TTR1 features include:
– Sleek tabletop design that fits in with most décors.
– Powerful, full-range sound with built-in 2-way speakers.
– Auto-set Clock and Dual Alarms with sleep and snooze timers that can be independently set to a favorite SIRIUS XM channel or buzzer.
-Large display that automatically adjusts brightness to different environments to easily view artist name, song title and clock functions.
– Remote Control that allows users to easily control the radio from across the room.
– User-selectable sound equalizer settings.
– Direct access to 10 favorite channel presets from the front panel buttons or the remote control.
– Parental controls to lock-out channels with controversial content.
The TTR1 measures 11” x 7.25” x 3.75.” It includes a wired Ethernet jack for customers who have network connectivity near their listening location; Aux-In capability for connecting a digital music player or alternate audio source; and line-out for connection to a stereo or home entertainment system. Connections are also available for headphones. The TTR1 is compatible with 802.11b & 802.11g wireless networks with WEP and WPA2 security.
The TTR1 will carries an MSRP $149.99 and will be available in the fall of 2009.

Why is the stock down 17% from last week? Is it too late to short it?
Question is, will it stream the Sirius/XM full internet line-up…or will it be a limited (i.e. no Howard Stern) selection of channels?
I know what I’ll be asking for this Christmas. No it’s a little tii expensive to get as a gift. I’ll just ask fot Best Buy Gift Cards.

This is the future of radio, very nice product. You broadcast right from your own home and since SXM has the best content they will win out over free internet radio (which will be shutdown soon enough anyway or be loaded with commercials)
Your right James it is nice for Christmas but little pricey. Does anyone know what wireless network it will be using? I could use it in the living room.
It would think it would use 802.11g which is compatible with a b, or N router. It might also have an ethernet connection.

The price is fine as long as it has some strong sound. Nothing tinny. I have some loud noise where I work and I need to have the sound louder than normal to hear. As long as it can receive all the stations and not some sellected stations as with Directv. That sucks when I have to pay a monthly fee and my stations are not listed.
They do need a sterio boom box with large speakers and 200+ watts of power. Hint hint. Thats what we want. Not these small bathroom radios.
I do this already with the Squeezebox Boom table top radio. It not only does Sirius/XM, it does Pandora, Internet Radio streams, LastFM, streams all my iTunes…I’m forgetting a lot. The sounds is excellent.

The Logitech Squeezebox boom is twice the price of the Sirius Tabletop. The Squeezebox Boom does have great sound. If the Squuezebox Boom were cheaper it would be the superior choice
It’s Squeezebox not Squuezebox. And it’s not twice the price it’s it’s about $100 more with 10x the functionality.
I am an XM subscriber, not SIRIUS. I have preimium internet subscription, will I be able to use the ttr1? I don’t believe that XM has an internet radio at this time. Why doesn’t SIRIUS XM, just combine their internet radio platforms? I understand the problems with the SATELITE technologies being different, but the internet should be one platform. Also, why is it so hard for them to make all new devices A LA CARTE capable? The skydock is a nice gadget to me, but I really think it would be a smash if it could support A LA CARTE……..Is it really that difficult to make A LA CARTE or is the company just avoiding for fear that many would try to save money? I thought that was suppose to be one of the benefits of the merger? They told the FCC how it would help consumers and offered A LA CARTE as one of the ways..A year later, they have the STRATUS 5, and they continue to find ways to increase prices rather than save customers money. They have me addicted so I will never cancel, however…I feel they could get many more subs at a lower price point with less channels…I will see how they promote the Onyx…but A LA CARTE for iphones/ipods…would’ve beena grand slam…
