Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ:SIRI) and Subaru of America have announced a new deal that will make satellite radio and option on all models and standard on some.  Subaru’s highest trim levels of the  Legacy and Outback will come standard with Sirius XM.  The deal includes a four month promotional subscription for consumers that buy a Subaru.   Impreza and Forester models equipped with factory installed navigation systems will get the added bonus of a  four-month trial subscription to NavTraffic, which provides information about traffic, construction, road closures and accidents.

While the announcement of a new deal is good news, the satellite radio provider has had a deal in place with Subaru for quite some time.  It is great to see this deal, but as usual things need to stay in perspective.  Through the first 9 months of 2011 Subaru has sold just over 195,000 cars, which is less than the volume GM sells in one month.

Subaru did announce that Sirius XM satellite radio will become standard on additional trim levels and models in upcoming model years.
